The AFL Central Victoria Commission was established in 2013 as a result of the ‘Review of Country Football’ recommendations.
The next Commission AGM will be held on March 20th. Nominations are called from interested people for some vacancies. In addition, each year 3 Commissioners are elected or re-elected to a place on the Commission.
The role would suit people who possess skills and expertise in one or more of business management, financial management, law, marketing, media, company directorship, sports management and relevant sports knowledge.
Andrew Cooney, Chair of the AFL Central Victoria Commission said ‘We have a high performing Commission that has seen us through the initial setup phase. This is an exciting period as we continue to support out clubs and leagues to develop football, netball and hockey across the region. Being a Commissioner is very rewarding; as a Commission we are involved in a vast array of commercial, strategic and community issues – and at the same time we are involved in grassroots community sport, dealing with local people’.
