Big Games on Mitiamo and Serpentine’s turf

by Nathan Dole

CRUCIAL contests at Mitiamo and Serpentine highlight this Saturday’s 11th round in the Loddon Valley Football Netball League season.

It’s fifth against fourth as Mitiamo hosts Calivil United.

After a slow start to the season, the Calivil United Demons have fired up to now have a 5-4 record.

Mitiamo has the same win-loss tally, but trails Calivil United by 18 per cent.

When these clubs met at Calivil in round two it was the Superoos who celebrated a one-point victory.

Bears Lagoon-Serpentine must keep winning to have any chance of grabbing a top five berth.

The Bears capped a superb team performance with a 24-point victory in last Saturday’s clash with Maiden Gully YCW Eagles.

Next up for the Bears is Pyramid Hill.

The Bulldogs have lost their past two hit-outs against Maiden Gully YCW and Newbridge.

A major challenge for Pyramid Hill will be stopping the influence of Cody Gunn and Andrew Gladman who lead the Bears goalkicking on 23 and 21.

A talented Bulldogs line-up includes the likes of Adrian McErvale, Nathan Fitzpatrick, Matt Klein-Breteler, and Billy Micevski.

The round three clash between the Bears and Bulldogs was also decided by a point in Pyramid Hill’s favour.

Marong faces a Maiden Gully YCW Eagles team on the rebound from defeat.

The Panthers will be banking of plenty of support as they run Reunion Day for all past footballers, netballers, officials, members and supporters at Malone Park.

On-field the Eagles look to have too much scoring power.

Winless since a stunning five-point triumph against Calivil United in round three, Inglewood is at home against Bridgewater.

The Mean Machine must win to keep finals hopes alive.

A Bridgewater line-up led by Darren Clutton, Kyle Chant, Josh Metherell, Zane Hoiles and Peter Rothacker looks to have too much class for the Blues.

Newbridge has the bye.
