BRIDGEWATER has fought its way to the A-grade netball grand final in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League.
A 10-goal victory in Saturday’s preliminary final against Mitiamo at Marong’s Malone Park has put Bridgewater into the season decider against Calivil United.
Stung by a three-goal loss to Calivil United in the qualifying final, Bridgewater has struck back brilliantly in the Poyser Trucks Bendigo-backed finals action.
The red and white won the first semi-final against Maiden Gully YCW by 20 goals and then outpointed Mitiamo in the preliminary final.
A 52-42 victory has put Bridgewater into the September 15 clash for the premiership cup with the Demons.
Bridgewater will have home-court advantage.
A dominant force in the home and away series, Mitiamo’s season is over after consecutive losses in the finals.
After a rest in week one of the finals because it finished the regular season on top of the ladder, Mitiamo went down to Calivil United by five goals in the second semi.
The Superoos tried hard, but Bridgewater was too strong in the preliminary.
In other matches on Saturday, Bridgewater won the B-grade contest with Pyramid Hill by 19 goals.
Bridgewater scored 61 goals in a superb display.
The C-grade match ended in a 45-38 victory for Mitiamo against Bridgewater.
Pyramid Hill advanced to the C-reserve grand final after a 42-37 win against Bears Lagoon Serpentine.
The young stars from Inglewood shone as they won the under-17 match against Maiden Gully YCW, 53-39.
The Inglewood Blues also advanced to the under-15 grand final after a 43-38 win against Pyramid Hill.
Six of the Loddon Valley FNL’s nine clubs will be represented in the netball grand finals.
Saturday’s grand finals at Laser Plumbing Bendigo Oval, Bridgewater:
A-grade at 3pm: Calivil United v Bridgewater.
B-grade at 1.30pm: Maiden Gully YCW v Bridgewater.
C-grade at 12pm: Inglewood v Mitiamo.
17-under at 12pm: Calivil United v Inglewood.
C-reserve at 10.30am: Maiden Gully YCW v Pyramid Hill.
15-under at 10.30am: Maiden Gully YCW v Inglewood.
