THE third-placed Calivil United faces a tough test at Pyramid Hill in Saturday’s 16th round of the Loddon Valley Football Netball League’s A-grade netball competition.
There’s plenty to play for as a Pyramid Hill victory would put the red, white and blue four points clear of Maiden Gully YCW which has the bye.
Players in all A-grade netball matches will wear orange armbands to show their support for the Violence Prevention Round.
The orange ribbon is the colour designated by the United Nation’s UNiTE to End Violence against women campaign with the colour representing an optimistic future free from violence against women and girls.
All leagues in the AFL Central Victoria region are taking part.
“Sport can play a significant part in raising awareness of the importance of respectful relationships,” said AFL Central Victoria Regional general manager Carol Cathcart.
“This weekend we are promoting the message to stand up, speak out and act to stop violence against women and girls in our community”.
In last Saturday’s netball, Pyramid Hill was defeated at Bridgewater, while Calivil United scored an eight goal win against Maiden Gully YCW at Raywood.
The round seven contest ended in an eight-goal win for Calivil United against Pyramid Hill.
Scores were locked on 48-all when Bridgewater last played Newbridge.
This time Bridgewater is at home against a Newbridge line-up still eyeing the double chance.
Bridgewater won its latest match against Pyramid Hill by 15 goals, while Newbridge had the bye as it was drawn to play Inglewood.
Marong hosts the ladder-leading Mitiamo at Malone Park.
The Superoos won their previous duel with the Panthers by 17 goals and should take the points again.
Bears Lagoon Serpentine’s A-grade team has a rest because of Inglewood’s forfeit.
Maiden Gully YCW has the bye and will be anxiously awaiting the result of the match at Pyramid Hill.
