Demons play too hot for Eagles to stop

by Nathan Dole

THE form of the Calivil United Demons was too hot for Maiden Gully YCW to handle in Saturday’s 15th round of the Loddon Valley Football Netball League’s A-grade netball action.

A brilliant one-goal win against Bridgewater the previous round had kept Maiden Gully YCW right in the hunt for a finals berth.

On Saturday it was the third-placed Calivil United which had all the answers to the Eagles play in a 45-37 win on the Raywood court.

Despite the defeat, the Eagles stayed level on 28 premiership points with the fifth-placed Pyramid Hill after the red, white and blue was defeated by Bridgewater.

On the rebound from defeat, Bridgewater did so in fine style as it scored 61-46 win against Pyramid Hill.

The ladder-leading Mitiamo was too strong for Bears Lagoon Serpentine in the clash between first and ninth.

At the final whistle, Mitiamo led 44-27.

Inglewood forfeited to Newbridge, and Marong had the bye.

A highlight of next Saturday’s play will be the Newbridge and Bridgewater clash at Riverside Park.

Pyramid Hill takes on Calivil United at Mitchell Park, and Marong faces Mitiamo.

Bears Lagoon Serpentine’s A-grade team takes a break, but all other grades will play Inglewood on the Janiember Park court.

Maiden Gully YCW has the bye.

Loddon Valley FNL A-grade netball ladder:

Mitiamo 48 points, 130 per cent; Bridgewater 42, 136; Calivil United 40, 131; Newbridge 34, 106; Pyramid Hill 28, 104; Maiden Gully YCW 28, 103; Marong 16, 73; Bears Lagoon Serpentine 4, 44.
