Eagles, Pyramid duel for finals place

by Nathan Dole

LEVEL on points and separated by less than one per cent, Maiden Gully YCW and Pyramid Hill are locked in a tense contest to qualify for the A-grade netball finals in the Loddon Valley Football Netball League.

The two clubs will meet in this Saturday’s 17th round on the Marist College court in Maiden Gully.

In last Saturday’s play, Pyramid Hill went agonisingly close to an upset win against Calivil United.

The red, white and blue teamed well on their court at Mitchell Park, but it was the Demons who handled the heat to clinch a 40-35 victory.

As all that was going on, Maiden Gully YCW had the bye.

In other matches, Mitiamo scored a 70-21 victory at Marong, and Bridgewater beat Newbridge by 27 goals at Riverside Park.

Bears Lagoon Serpentine did not play in A-grade because it was drawn against Inglewood.

In this Saturday’s round, Calivil United plays Newbridge at Calivil; Maiden Gully takes on Pyramid Hill; and Bridgewater hosts Bears Lagoon Serpentine.

Marong takes a break in A-grade as its drawn to play Inglewood.

Mitiamo has the bye.
