MAIDEN Gully YCW’s one-goal victory against the highly-fancied Bridgewater has kept the race for fifth place in the Loddon Valley Football Netball League’s A-grade netball competition wide open.
The Eagles soared to a dramatic 46-45 victory against Bridgewater in Saturday’s round 14 clash at Marist Oval.
Maiden Gully’s seventh win of the season meant it drew level on points with the fifth-placed Pyramid Hill which had a rest because it was drawn to play Inglewood.
In other matches, the ladder-leading Mitiamo was too strong for Newbridge at Riverside Park.
The Superoos won 51-35.
As expected, the clash between the seventh and eighth-placed Marong and Bears Lagoon Serpentine was evenly fought.
The Bears had home-court advantage, but it was the Panthers who clawed their way to a 34-28 victory.
Calivil United had the bye.
In next Saturday’s play, Bridgewater is on the rebound as they take on Pyramid Hill at home.
Calivil United takes on Maiden Gully YCW at Raywood, and Mitiamo faces Bears Lagoon Serpentine.
Newbridge has a rest courtesy of a forfeit by Inglewood, and Marong has the bye.
