Elmore keeps heat on Huntly in fight for double chance

ELMORE has drawn level on points with Huntly as both A-grade netball teams fight for the crucial double chance in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League’s finals action.

As Elmore scored a 43-goal victory in Saturday’s round 17 clash at Lockington, Huntly was outpointed by White Hills on the Hawks’ court at Specialist Breeders Australia Oval in Strauch Reserve.

The Elmore Bloods dominated play at Nichol Trading Oval in Lockington.

At the final whistle, Elmore led 64-21.

Elmore will be at home for next Saturday’s match against Heathcote.

A tough run for Huntly rolled on.

After a 40-50 loss at home to the unbeaten Colbinabbin in round 14, Huntly had the bye and then scored a 23-goal win against Leitchville Gunbower at Gunbower.

On Saturday the Hawks faced the formidable White Hills line-up.

In a season where it’s been defeated just once and also draw a contest, White Hills was in a ruthless mood.

The Demons fired up to score a 49-24 victory at Huntly.

Results in the other two A-grade matches went as expected.

Colbinabbin was too strong for Mount Pleasant at M.J. Morgan Reserve in Colbinabbin.

The Grasshoppers won 65-34 and are just a win away from completing an unbeaten run.

North Bendigo marked a successful trek to Pigeon Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve.

The red, white and blue won 57-38.

Leitchville Gunbower had the bye.

Standings in the Heathcote DFNL A-grade netball competition:

Colbinabbin 172 per cent, 58 points; White Hills 246, 54; Huntly 116, 36; Elmore 115, 36; Mount Pleasant 97, 34; North Bendigo 92, 24; Leitchville Gunbower 66, 18; Heathcote 55, 8; Lockington Bamawm United 47, 4.

The final round in the home and away season will be played next Saturday.

It’s fifth against third as Mount Pleasant takes on Huntly on the Blues’ court at Toolleen.

North Bendigo and Colbinabbin clash at Hibo Hotel Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.

White Hills and Leitchville Gunbower meet at Tint-A-Car Oval in Scott Street, White Hills.

Elmore hosts Heathcote at Elmore Recreation Reserve.

Lockington Bamawm United has the bye.
