FOR the second time this season, Eaglehawk has featured in a drawn A-grade netball match on the Canterbury Park court in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football Netball League competition.
Eaglehawk took on Kangaroo Flat in Saturday’s ninth round.
It was a vital clash for both teams as Eaglehawk fought to hold third place and the double chance for the finals against the fourth-placed Roos.
A dramatic contest ended with scores locked on 49-all.
The round two match between Eaglehawk and South Bendigo played on Good Friday at Canterbury Park ended with scores on 48 apiece.
Upset of the day was at Barkers Oval in Maryborough’s Princes Park.
Although Maryborough went in as favourite to chalk up a third victory it was Strathfieldsaye which stormed to an impressive victory.
Storm won 56-43 and celebrated its second win of the season.
A big beneficiary was South Bendigo which moved to the fifth rung without taking to the court.
The Bloods received four points because Castlemaine is not fielding an A-grade team.
South Bendigo is now four points clear of Maryborough and heads west to play the Magpies at Barkers Oval next Saturday.
Other matches as the league marked the halfway point of the season went as expected.
Sandhurst won a high-scoring contest with Kyneton at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
On the rebound from its first defeat of the season at Gisborne, Sandhurst scored 62 goals.
Kyneton capped off excellent teamwork from defence and through mid-court to attack by scoring 49 goals against the ladder leaders.
Gisborne’s great run continued in a 24-goal win against Golden Square at Fur Life Vet Oval in Wade Street.
The team in red, white and blue won 52-28.

In next Saturday’s action, Sandhurst and Kangaroo Flat feature in the match of the round at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
Maryborough will aim to rebound from defeat when it takes on South Bendigo at Barkers Oval in Princes Park.
Eaglehawk takes on Strathfieldsaye at Canterbury Park.
Golden Square and Kyneton clash at Fur Life Vet Oval.
Gisborne plays Castlemaine in the lower grades at Gardiner Reserve, but there will be no A-grade match.
