LVFNL Round 11 Netball Wrap

by Nathan Dole

CALIVIL United was too strong for Mitiamo as second beat third in the Loddon Valley Football Netball League’s A-grade netball action on Saturday.

Although Mitiamo had home-court advantage, a fired-up Calivil United won 55-46 in a clash between two clubs likely to meet in the first weekend of the finals.

In their earlier meeting in round two it was Mitiamo which scored a three-goal victory at Calivil.

The visitors triumphed in the two other A-grade contests.

Maiden Gully YCW Eagles won a hard-fought clash at Marong, 48-40.

It was a crucial win for the Gully as it holds fifth place on percentage from Pyramid Hill.

Although beaten, Marong improved markedly from a 25-goal defeat to the Eagles earlier in the year.

The Pyramid Hill line-up capped the trek to Serpentine with a 49-21 win against the Bears.

Bridgewater won on forfeit from Inglewood.

Newbridge had the bye.

In next Saturday’s matches, Pyramid Hill meets Marong at Mitchell Park, and Newbridge plays Bears Lagoon Serpentine at Riverside Park.

Maiden Gully YCW meets Mitiamo in the match of the day on the Eagles court at Marist College Oval.

Calivil United is drawn to play Inglewood, so the Demons A-grade team takes a break.

Loddon Valley FNL A-grade ladder after 11 rounds:

Bridgewater 34 points, 145 per cent; Calivil United 32, 140; Mitiamo 32, 131; Newbridge 22, 104; Maiden Gully YCW 20, 108; Pyramid Hill 20, 107; Marong 12, 73; Bears Lagoon Serpentine 4, 39.
