Mount Pleasant scores thrilling win at Leitchville

MOUNT Pleasant won a thrilling A-grade netball clash with Leitchville Gunbower as both teams began their Heathcote District Football Netball League season on Saturday.

The Blues fought on to win 31-30 at Leitchville.

Further south and it was Lockington Bamawm United which bounced back from a big defeat the previous Saturday to beat Heathcote.

The LBU Cats won 36-34 at Lockington.

Tipped by many league followers as a team on the rise this season, North Bendigo was too strong for Huntly at Atkins Street.

North Bendigo won 52-43 and reclaimed the Hayes Simpson trophy.

The best on court medal was earned by Meg McGlone.

The North Bendigo line-up capitalised on home-court advantage to win a high-scoring showdown with the Hawks, 52-43.

Colbinabbin was too slick at Elmore.

The Grasshoppers won 62-33.

Two contests will be played on Good Friday.

White Hills plays Mount Pleasant at Scott Street; and Colbinabbin hosts Lockington Bamawm United at M.J. Morgan Reserve.

Easter Saturday fixtures are Huntly against Elmore at Strauch Reserve; and Leitchville Gunbower faces North Bendigo at Leitchville.

Heathcote has the bye.
