Premiership stars watch Bulldogs take on Cats

THE stars from North Bendigo’s senior premiership team of 1974 will watch the Bulldogs tackle Lockington Bamawm United in this Saturday’s 14th round of the Heathcote District Football Netball League season.

LBU faces a daunting task on North Bendigo’s turf at Atkins Street.

The Bulldogs unbeaten run at home is one of the best in league history.

The Kahl Oliver-coached LBU is fifth on the ladder and will be determined to play well against a league heavyweight in the run to the finals.

The Cats will be well rested after a bye, while North Bendigo dominated last week’s clash at White Hills.

When these clubs last met it was North Bendigo which triumphed by 36 points.

Elmore will eye a great chance to end its winless run when it hosts White Hills.

Earlier in the season it was the Demons which beat the Bloods by 32 points.

Midfield battles will be crucial in this contest, which is where the Demons may hold a slight edge.

Colbinabbin takes on Mount Pleasant at M.J. Morgan Reserve.

The Grasshoppers played well to be within five goals of the ladder-leading Leitchville Gunbower in the round 13 contest at Gunbower.

Mount Pleasant will be fired up after a 31-point loss to Heathcote.

Confidence in the Heathcote Saints team will have soared after a stunning win at Toolleen last round.

The Saints are back at Pigeon Park to take on Huntly in the 14th round.

Earlier in the year the Hawks beat Heathcote by 103 points in the Hawks nest at Strauch Reserve.

Leitchville Gunbower has the bye.

Heathcote DFNL senior ladder:

Leitchville Gunbower 40 points, 213 per cent; North Bendigo 40, 206; Huntly 36, 159; Colbinabbin 32, 166; Lockington Bamawm United 28, 124; Mount Pleasant 16, 68; Heathcote 12, 48; White Hills 4, 55; Elmore 0, 33.
