Preview LVFNL A Grade Netball Rd 9

by Nathan Dole

SEPARATED by just two points on the A-grade netball ladder, Newbridge and Maiden GullyYCW meet in Saturday’s ninth round of the Loddon Valley Football Netball League season.

Newbridge will be aiming to capitalise on home-court advantage at Riverside Park.

The Maroons and Eagles are both on the rebound from defeat.

Newbridge’s clash at home with Calivil United ended in a 17-goal loss.

Maiden Gully YCW’s trip to Pyramid Hill was marked by a six-goal loss.

The fifth-placed Newbridge has scored 14 points from three wins and draw, while the Eagles have a win-loss tally of 3-4.

Unbeaten in six matches, Bridgewater should be too strong at home for Marong.

The league leaders were in ominous touch as they scored a 76-18 win in last Saturday’s play at Serpentine.

The day at Serpentine was a fund-raiser for the Love Your Sister campaign and Breast Cancer Network Australia, but Bridgewater was not in a charitable mood on court, at least.

After a bye, Marong will be doing all it can to match a formidable opponent in every quarter.

Calivil United is at home against Bears Lagoon-Serpentine.

The Demons should have too much firepower in this contest.

Pyramid Hill has the bye, while Mitiamo’s A-grade team has a rest because of Inglewood’s forfeit.

Ladder after eight rounds:

Bridgewater 6 won, 0 lost, 1 draw, 26 points, 143 per cent; Mitiamo  6-1-0 24 149; Calivil United 5-2-0 20, 128; Pyramid Hill 4-4-0 16 103; Newbridge 3-3-1 14 96; Maiden Gully 3-4-0 12 98; Marong 3-4-0 12 79; Bears Lagoon-Serpentine 1-6-0 4 40.
