BRIDGEWATER’S fight to stay in the finals race will be under threat when it tackles Calivil United in Saturday’s 13th round in the Loddon Valley Football Netball League season.
The Mean Machine has home ground advantage against a club it beat earlier in the season by 31 points.
Eight points behind the fifth-placed Mitiamo, Bridgewater must keep winning.
Well-rested after last week’s bye, Bridgewater faces a tough task against a team which scored a 59-point win against Inglewood last round.
Another big match will be at Mitiamo where the Superoos take on Pyramid Hill in the battle between fourth and fifth.
Both line-ups scored impressive wins last round.
Mitiamo played brilliant football to win at Maiden Gully by 31 points, and Pyramid Hill won at home against Marong by nine goals.
Earlier in the year, Pyramid Hill beat Miti by 18 points.
Bears Lagoon Serpentine has the bye.
The ladder-leading Newbridge should be too strong for Marong at Malone Park.
Newbridge won a hard-fought battle with Bears Lagoon Serpentine last round, while Marong was outplayed by the Bulldogs at Pyramid Hill.
The Panthers did play well to be within 25 points at the end of this season’s clash on Newbridge’s turf at Riverside Park.
Inglewood takes on a Maiden Gully YCW Eagles line-up determined to strike back from defeat.
The Blues have home-ground advantage, but the Eagles look to have too much attacking power.
When they last met, Maiden Gully YCW soared to an 88-point victory.
