Eagles fire up for clash with Newbridge

MEMORIES of a one-goal loss in their previous A-grade netball clash will spur Maiden Gully YCW Eagles against Newbridge in Saturday’s action in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL.

The Eagles will be on their court at Marist College Oval in Maiden Gully to take on the third-placed Newbridge in the 15th round.

Although it will not feature in the finals there is still plenty for the Adam Boldiston-coached Eagles to play for.

A 41-42 result on Newbridge’s court at Walker’s Doughnuts Riverside Oval in round six was one of the Eagles’ best performances of the season.

The Eagles won their latest hit-out at Inglewood’s Centre State Scaffolding Oval by 30 goals.

Will be a tough task in taking the points against the Selina Holland and Kristy Gandy-coached Newbridge which will be equally desperate to retain third place.

After taking on the Maroons the Eagles round out their season by playing at Marong on August 3, host Bears-Lagoon Serpentine on the 10th, and play at Pyramid Hill in the last round of the home-and-away series.

Calivil United will be at home against Bears-Lagoon Serpentine.

Huge test for the Haylee Fawcett-coached Bears who won last Saturday’s home game against Bridgewater by 10 goals.

In round six it was the Danielle O’Toole-coached BLS which beat the Demons by 33 goals at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.

Fifth in the premiership race, BLS will take on Mitiamo in the 16th round, then play at Maiden Gully before a bye in the run to the finals.

Bridgewater is up against Marong at Bridgewater Recreation Reserve.

The Caz Wood and Olivia Collicoat-coached Bridgewater will be determined to bounce back from defeat.

The Robyn Cunnington-coached Marong scored 85 goals in last Saturday’s blitz of Calivil United at East West Oval in Malone Park.

Marong starts the round 10 points behind the fifth-placed Bears-Lagoon Serpentine.

The Panthers run in August is Maiden Gully YCW at home, bye, and then on Inglewood’s court.

Mitiamo will play Inglewood at Mitiamo’s John Forbes Oval.

A four-goal win at Pyramid Hill last round ensured the Jen Wilson-coached Superoos stayed on top of the ladder.

Another big test for the Abbey Hayes-coached Inglewood which will aim to not allow the Superoos to go on a goalscoring spree.

Pyramid Hill has the bye.
