It was an exciting weekend for all involved in the Bendigo Bank Junior Football League (BJFL), proceeding with their competition for 153 teams playing across our region, thanks to the support of IGA and Caviller Homes.
Female and male junior footballers from under 9’s to under 18’s were able to step out on the field and play the game they love for the first time this year.
The Bendigo Bank JFL in conjunction with Heathcote District Football Netball League and the Loddon Valley Football Netball League were able to introduce a new competition for clubs who wished to participate. Nine teams form the new Under 18 K L Gold Fosterville Mines division. The participating clubs are; Calivil United, Huntly, Leitchville Gunbower, Marong, Maiden Gully YCW, Mount Pleasant, North Bendigo, Newbridge and White Hills.
AFL Central Victoria would like to commend participants, parents and carers for the way they conducted themselves on the weekend. The joy of young local boys and girls being able to run out on the field wearing team colours was well worth the wait.
The BJFL would like to acknowledge the great role Bendigo Umpires Association (BUA) plays in our game. The new initiative by the BUA to supply field umpires to the Under 12 competitions was well received with the pathway from Senior Boundary to Junior Field umpiring being developed. Thank you to Steamatic for partnering in this development process from BJFL to BUA.
Bendigo Junior football commends the hard work club, league members and volunteers put in to make the dream of junior football a reality this year.
AFL Central Victoria looks forward to the next round for more exhilarating junior football.
