Colbinabbin breaks Demons streak
COLBINABBIN broke the Winslow White Hills Demons unbeaten run in Saturday’s 13th round of the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL’s A-grade netball competition.
The Jen McIntyre-coached Colbinabbin was on its court at M.J. Morgan Oval to take on the ladder leaders.
An earlier rematch of the 2023 grand final went the way of the White Hills by two goals on its court in round four.
This time it was the green and gold which teamed superbly to net a 56-48 victory against the Lauren Bowles-coached White Hills.
Another important match was at Elmore where the Bloods took on Leitchville Gunbower.
The Allira Holmes and Gabe Richards-coached Elmore struck back from defeat the previous round to score a 56-34 win against the Caitlyn Hamilton-coached Bombers.
Huntly marked its second victory and drew level with Lockington Bamawm United on eight premiership points.
The Kym Bell-coached Harlowe Huntly Hawks were down 7-11 at quarter-time and 15-20 at half-time of the match at Lockington’s Nichol Trading Oval.
In the third it was the brown and gold which took charge against the Ash Cullen-coached LBU.
Scores were 29-all at a quarter to play.
Huntly won the final term, 11-8, and the match, 40-37.
It was a closely-fought contest between North Bendigo and Heathcote at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.
Heathcote led 9-8 at quarter-time, but the red, white and blue lifted to win the second term, 9-7.
Quarter three was to be Heathcote’s best of the contest.
The Brooke Bolton and Kelsey Hayes-coached Saints won the stanza, 14-7, as it surged to a six-goal lead going into the final quarter.
Scores were seven apiece in the last as Heathcote won 37-31 against a Bulldogs’ team coached by Kiralee Kinder and Stacey Kingdon.
Mount Pleasant had the bye.

The Harlowe Huntly Hawks return to their court at Strauch Reserve to play Colbinabbin.
Mount Pleasant plays Lockington Bamawm United at Toolleen.
Leitchville Gunbower has the bye.
