Lockington Bamawm nets impressive win on North’s court

THE Lockington Bamawm United Cats achieved a memorable victory on North Bendigo’s court in the 17th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL on Saturday.

The Ash Cullen-coached LBU climbed from ninth on the ladder to the seventh rung after a hard-fought win at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.

Scores were locked on 10-all at quarter-time.

In the second it was the Cats who surged clear to win the term, 14-6.

An eight-goal lead for LBU was whittled to just four after the Kiralee Kinder and Stacee Kingdon-coached North Bendigo fired up to win the third term, 12-8.

The Cats regained the momentum and surged to a 44-37 victory.

A slow start in which it was outscored by 10 goals meant it was going to be incredibly difficult for Heathcote to reel in the Winslow White Hills Demons at Pigeon Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve.

In a match between the Saints and Demons it was the Lauren Bowles-coached White Hills which led 17-7 at quarter-time.

The Demons then surged to an 18-goal lead by half-time.

A closely-fought third term went the way of the red and black, 13-9.

Best quarter for the Brooke Bolton and Kelsey Hayes-coached Saints was the last.

Heathcote finished with plenty of run to win the term, 15-8, but it was the ladder-leading White Hills which netted the four premiership points in a 50-35 result.

Leitchville Gunbower added to an impressive build-up to the finals campaign by scoring a 62-28 win against the Harlowe Huntly Hawks.

The Caitlyn Hamilton-coached Bombers were in control for most of the match on their court at Leitchville.

At the final siren Leitchville Gunbower was 34 goals clear of the Kym Bell-coached Hawks.

Elmore won a high-scoring match at home against Mount Pleasant.

The Bloods led 24-16 at quarter-time and 44-24 by the main break.

Quarter three was to be the best by the Anthea McCleary-coached Mount Pleasant as the Blues scored 11 goals and the Bloods added 15.

A 24-goal margin for the Allira Holmes and Gabe Richards-coached Elmore at the start of the last was 30 by the end as the red and white marked a 73-43 victory.

Colbinabbin had the bye.
