Mallee Eagles end Woorinen’s unbeaten run

MALLEE Eagles ended Woorinen’s unbeaten streak in Saturday’s round 13 clash in Radio 3SH-backed Central Murray senior footy.

The Eagles and Tigers met in the Lalbert nest.

An evenly fought opening term ended with Mallee in front, 13-11.

The Eagles then scored four goals in the second and worked hard defensively to limit the ladder-leading Tigers to a solitary major.

A 21-point lead for Mallee going into the second half was back at 13 going into the last term.

The Harry Allen and Brent Macleod-coached Eagles then dominated the final term.

As Mallee slammed on 7.2 the yellow and black added 2.3.

Andrew Mead-Harding capped a brilliant match with six goals as Jacob O’Meara booted two in a 99-57 win for the Eagles.

Leading goalkickers for Woorinen were Kyle Skene and Josh Stone on two.

Best for the Eagles were Zac O’Meara, Darcy and Tom McGregor, Jayden Post, Toby Sheahan and Andrew Mead-Harding.

Josh Stone, Kane Reid, Ben Booth, Doug Beames, Lachlan Gardner and Taylor Cameron played well for the Tim Free-coached Woorinen.

Although it was on home turf, Nyah Nyah West United could not stop Cohuna Kangas romping to a 34-point victory.

The Jack Geary-coached Cohuna led 46-33 at half-time and then slammed on six goals in the third term to be up 84-43 at a quarter to go.

The Demons fired up to win the last, 26-19, but it was Cohuna which marked a 103-69 win againt the reigning premier.

Joel Helman, Jacob Mitchell and Tom Toma kicked three goals for the Kangas as Ricky Monti and Jude Palmer chipped in with two each.

The Demons had Alex Birch boot two majors.

Best for Cohuna Kangas were gun recruits Tom Toma and Ricky Monti, along with Jarrod Findlay, Jackson Williams, Sam Leitch and Sam McGlone.

The Demons’ best were Dominic Gallo, Alex Erlandson, Brayden Bigham, Jaydyn Stirling and Mitch Grinham.

NNWU Demons are jointly coached by Corey Daniels and Jason Murphy.

The Kangaroos from Balranald won a hard-fought match with Tyntynder at Swan Hill’s Alan Garden Reserve.

It was Tyntynder which led 13-7 at quarter-time, but Balranald struck back to lead 26-20 by half-time.

The Kangaroos leapt clear in the third as they scored 4.2 and kept the Bulldogs on a tight leash to add just 1.1.

Co-coach Ben Fuller capped a great match with six goals in a 65-47 victory for Balranald.

Tyntynder’s leading goalkickers were Elia Ware and Kyle Doran on three and two.

Best for Balranald were Ben Fuller, Cody Henness, Tanner Coulthard, Roarke Smith, Jack Salau and Ian Fuller.

The Kangaroos also have Jack Salau and Ben Mahon as joint coaches.

Tyntynder’s best were Mick Dedini, Josh Potter, Elia Ware, Patrick Crowe, Bailey Reeves and Sam Bull.

The Bulldogs are jointly coached by Darcy Bibby, Justin Ellis and Charlie Ford.

Koondrook Barham kicked away for a 44-point win at Kerang’s Riverside Park.

The Marcus Demaria-coached River Raiders were down 44-35 at half-time.

Koondrook Barham then booted five goals in the third and kept the Blues to a tally of three behinds.

It was a superb second half by the River Raiders as they scored 10.11 across the final hour as Kerang added 2.6.

Patrick Goble kicked five goals and Kye Attwell booted three in a 106-62 victory for the River Raiders.

Harry Bremner kicked two goals and was in Koondrook Barham’s best along with Goble, Attwell, Jack Thrum, Jordan Bassett and Reagan Hamilton.

Kerang’s best were Jonah McKnight, Leigham Mcalpin, Scott Pay, Martin Kelly, Flynn McKnight and Rylee Gitsham.

The Blues are coached by Paul Grayling.

Lake Boga won every quarter at home in a 94-26 victory against Swan Hill.

In the clash of the Magpies and Swans it was the Dean Helmers-coached Lake Boga which led 8-1 at quarter-time and 34-8 by the main break.

Lake Boga doubled its goal tally of seven across the opening three quarters by kicking seven majors in the last.

Rex Hickman booted five goals in a best on ground performance.

Other multiple goalkickers for the Magpies were Braden Padmore, three; and Bryce Anderson, two.

The Swans’ goalkickers were Conner Arif, Luke Phelan and Will Simpson.

Lake Boga’s best were Rex Hickman, Nathaniel Holmes-Brown, Zac Warne, Braden Padmore, Ryan Fox and Marty Parsons.

Will Simpson, Luke Phelan, Tom Holdstock, Will Burns, Jack Brown and Jared Halligan played well for the Michael Herlihy-coached Swans.

Tooleybuc Manangatang had the bye.
