SIX goals by the versatile Jordan Ford played a big part in North Bendigo’s win against Lockington Bamawm United in Saturday’s 10th round in Agnico Eagle Fosterville Gold Mine Heathcote DFNL senior footy.
It was the Bulldogs against the Cats on North Bendigo’s ground at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street.
A high-scoring opening term was won by North Bendigo, 45-22.
LBU hit back to win the second quarter, 19-7.
North Bendigo’s run and teamwork was superb across the final hour.
A tally of 20 scoring shots as LBU had seven was a sign of the Bulldogs’ dominance.
North Bendigo scored 5.7 and kept the Cats to a tally of two behinds in the third quarter.
The red, white and blue won the final quarter, 28-10.
Ford slotted six goals to be best-on-ground in the 117-53 victory.
Other multiple goalkickers were Jake Dean, Ryan Gillingham, Harrison Jarvie and Riley Paetow on two each.
The Bulldogs were without gun forward Dylan Klemm, abductor injury.
Leading goalkicker for LBU was Thomas Leech on four.
Best for the Bulldogs were Jordan Ford, Bailey Cain, Aarryn Craig, Jordan Hargreaves, Ryan Gillingham and Harrison Jarvie.
The win put the North Bendigo team coached by Rob Bennett, non-playing, and Ryan Hartley, playing, to the third rung on the ladder.
Lockington Bamawm United’s best were Nick Smart, Marcus Angove, Jack O’Callaghan, Lachlan Holthuisen, Patrick Keele and Cooper Mitchell.
The Jayden Howe-coached LBU is now fifth leading into Saturday’s showdown with White Hills in Lockington.
An eight-goal haul by Sam Dunstan inspired the Harlowe Huntly Hawks to a 37-point victory on home turf at Strauch Reserve against White Hills.
The Hawks went into this match on a one-seven record.
Huntly led 10-6 at quarter-time and then won the second, 18-12.
As the brown and gold scored four goals in the third the Demons kept the heat on by kicking three majors.
Huntly began the last term leading by 14 points.
The Hamish Morcom-coached Hawks added 3.7 and kept the red and black to a tally of two behinds.
When the final siren sounded Huntly led 78-41.
Eight goals earnt Sam Dunstan best-on-ground honours as Todd Stevenson and Lachy Wilson were also on target.
The Demons’ attack was led by Patrick Conlan and Mitch Dole on two each.
Best for Huntly were Sam Dunstan, Darby Walsh, Todd Stevenson, Harrison Campbell, Darcy Lawler and Lachy Wilson.
Seth Boyd, Patrick Crawford, Charlie Mortimer, Noah Jorgensen-Slimmon, Patrick Conlan and Mitch Dole were best for a White Hills team coached by Brad McConnell and Lachie Sawyer.
Mount Pleasant responded to a spirited challenge from Leitchville Gunbower to win at Toolleen by three goals.
The reigning premier welcomed back premiership-winning captain and ruckman Chris Down for his first senior game of the season.
Mount Pleasant led 16-13 at quarter-time and won the second term, 28-18.
A closely-fought third term went the way of the Blues, 21-19.
Both teams added three goals in the last as Mount Pleasant marked an 88-70 victory.
The Blues’ attack was led by Mitch Bennett and Ben Weightman on four goals each.
For Leitchville Gunbower it was Blake Dye who slotted a match-high six goals as Josh Koster kicked two.
Best for Mount Pleasant were Chris Down, William Wallace, Seb Greene, Joel Wharton, Jack Hickman and Xavier Carter.
The Blues’ line-up coached by Josh Hann, playing, and Cam Carter, non-playing, leads the premiership race on seven wins and has drawn contests with North Bendigo and Heathcote.
Leitchville Gunbower’s best were Blake Dye, Ben Paterson, Nic Cattapan, Luke Davis, Will Brereton and Hawley Wells.
The Bombers are coached by Joel Donehue and are fourth in the premiership race.
It was a brilliant first half by Colbinabbin against Elmore on the Grasshoppers’ ground at Colbinabbin’s M.J. Morgan Oval.
The Linton Jacobs-coached Colbinabbin raced to a 39-7 lead by quarter-time and was up 73-21 by the long break.
Elmore hit back to win the third quarter, 17-8.
A closely-fought final term went the way of the Luke Freeman-coached Bloods, 16-12.
The damage had been done in the first hour as Colbinabbin marked a 93-54 victory.
Brandyn Grenfell led the Grasshoppers’ attack on five goals as Alex Carr kicked three and Sam Ryan added two.
Elmore had seven goalkickers in a score of 7.12.
Colbinabbin’s best were Isaac Carracher, Jai Carn, Charlie Ryan, Toby Howlett, Sam Ryan and Jasper McArdle.
Peter Rothacker, Rhys Holmberg, Matt Gilmour, Hayden Trewick, Kynan Sharpe and Lachie Munro played well for the Bloods.

In the netball……NORTH Bendigo took another crucial step toward securing a berth in the A-grade netball finals as it won Saturday’s round 10 clash in the Agnico Eagle Fosterville Gold Mine Heathcote DFNL season.
The Bulldogs took on Lockington Bamawm United at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.
The Kiralee Kinder-coached North Bendigo was wary of an opponent which had won at Elmore in the previous round by six goals.
Stung by a 10-goal loss at home to Heathcote in the seventh round, North Bendigo had struck back to win on Leitchville Gunbower’s court and then scored a 44-42 victory at home against Huntly.
There were 99 goals scored in the clash of the Bulldogs and the Stacy Bacon-coached LBU Cats.
At the final siren North Bendigo led 54-45.
North Bendigo faces the daunting task on Colbinabbin’s court at M.J. Morgan Oval next Saturday.
First centre pass will be at 2.30pm.
Results in last Saturday’s other three A-grade matches went as expected.
Second in the premiership race, Mount Pleasant dominated against Leitchville Gunbower at Toolleen.
The Anthea McCleary-coached Blues won 79-27.
Mount Pleasant makes its way to Huntly’s Strauch Reserve for a round 11 showdown with the Hawks from 2.30pm.
The Katie Pollock-coached Leitchville Gunbower heads to Pigeon Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve to play the Saints from 3pm.
The Brooke Price-coached Heathcote had the bye in the 10th round.
When these clubs met in round two it was Leitchville Gunbower which marked a 46-40 victory in Gunbower.
The Harlowe Huntly Hawks will be on the rebound from a 37-49 loss at home to White Hills.
A finalist in ’25 the Kym Bell and Ash Sherlock is fifth on the ladder on a tally of 3 ½ wins and five defeats.
It was another strong performance by the Elley Lawton-coached White Hills in the 10th round.
Next up for the Demons will be playing Lockington Bamawm United on the Cats’ court at Nichol Trading Oval in Lockington.
Colbinabbin’s hot run kept on rolling as the Grasshoppers scored a 71-27 win against Elmore at Colbinabbin’s M.J. Morgan Oval.
The Jen McIntyre-coached Colbinabbin has a for/against tally of 687-304.
Was a tough afternoon for the Adam Boldiston-coached Elmore against a fierce rival.
Elmore has the bye in round 11 and will return to the court on June 27 to play North Bendigo.
