WEDDERBURN responded to a spirited first half by Donald to win Saturday’s round 11 match in Goldacres North Central senior footy by 29 points.
After leading 27-13 at quarter-time on it’s turf at Donaldson Park, Wedderburn was outplayed in the second.
The Royal Blues outplayed and outran the Redbacks to win quarter two, 25-8.
Donald led 38-35 at the long break, but could not halt Wedderburn’s brilliance in the next term.
As the Redbacks slammed on eight goals they kept the Royals to a major.
The Donald line-up hit back to win the last, 21-9, but it was Wedderburn which led 94-65 at the final siren.
Best for Wedderburn were Rory Lehmann, Tyler Curtis, coach Tom Metherell, Darcy Jackson, Oscar Holt and Mitch McEwen.
Donald’s best were Lachlan Sneddon, Pala Kuma, Cooper Mackenzie-George, Daniel Pearce, Thomas Guljas and Luca Rice.
The Royals are jointly coached by Daniel Pearce and Matt Walder.
Birchip-Watchem marked a 70-point win against Boort at Birchip’s George Cartwright Oval.
The Ash Connick-coached Bulls charged to a 41-8 lead by quarter-time.
Boort hit back to win the second term, 14-10.
The Bulls scored 11 goals in the second half as the Magpies added five.
At the final siren Birchip-Watchem was up 124-54.
Ricardo Liparota led the Bulls’ attack on six goals as Meyrick Buchanan booted four majors and Mac Lewis and Joseph Reid kicked two each.
Best for the Bulls were Zane Connick, Daniel Bell, Harry Cook, Jonty Randall, Meyrick Buchanan and Ricardo Liparota.
Liam Bianco, Carlos Egan, Keiren Wilson, Danko Bzenic, Tyson Rutley and Lachlan Hall were best for the Andrew Rutley-coached Boort.
It was a high-scoring contest between Calder United Lions and St Arnaud in Nullawil.
The Lions led 32-26 at quarter-time.
Six goals as they it kept the Saints to a major in the second put Calder United up by 40 points at the long break.
Term three went the way of the Saints, 32-31.
Led by the play of Daniel Murray, Steven Kennedy and Dale Pearce it was Calder United which kicked on for a 135-87 victory.
Dale Pearce and Steven Stroobants led the Lions’ attack on six goals each as Rylee Smith slotted three, and Rick Allan and Steven Kennedy kicked two each.
The Saints’ attack was led by Torin Petrie and Will Jackson with four and three goals as Jay Kirwood kicked two.
Best for Calder United included Justin Laird, Rick Allan and Steven Stroobants.
The Lions are coached by Jordan Humphreys, playing, and Tom Bickley, non-playing, as they chase back-to-back premierships.
St Arnaud’s best were Mitch Egan, Torin Petrie, Lachlan O’Connell, Jay Kirwood, Harrison Saunders and Liam Loverso.
The Saints are jointly coached by Harley Durward and Darby Schilder.
Sea Lake Nandaly kept Charlton goalless in their match at Sea Lake Oval.
The Tigers racked up 44 scoring shots in a 189-4 victory against the Navies.
It was a brilliant first half by the Boyd Bailey and Wade Donnan-coached Sea Lake Nandaly as it led 42-1 at quarter-time and 93-3 by the main break.
The Tigers then slammed on nine goals in the third and six in the last.
Was another outstanding match by Max Cahoon as he kicked nine goals as Boyd Bailey and Wade Donnan booted four and three majors.
The Tigers also had Cooper Allan, Kane Donnan and Judd Durie kick two goals each.
Best for the yellow and black were Boyd Bailey, Wade Donnan, Bryce Delmenico, Max Cahoon, Connor Michael and Cooper Roberts.
Was another tough hit-out for the Carl Thiesz-coached Charlton in which Jed Thompson, Sean O’Connor, Ben Lanyon, Murphy Fitzpatrick, Mason Heenan and Leigh Van Boven were best.

Charlton tackles Calder United Lions at Charlton Park.
St Arnaud and Birchip-Watchem meet in the clash of the Saints and Bulls at St Arnaud’s Lord Nelson Park.
Boort faces Wedderburn at Boort Park.
