CMFNL Round 8 Netball Review | Woorinen Tigers claw way to win at Swan Hill

THE Woorinen Tigers clawed their way to a two-goal victory against Swan Hill in Saturday’s eighth round of A-grade netball in the Central Murray FNL season.

Woorien led 15-10 at quarter-time on Swan Hill’s court.

By half-time it was Swan Hill which led 31-27.

The Swans won the third term, 15-13, but it was the Tigers who fought back brilliantly to outscore the Swans, 17-9 in the final stanza to complete a 57-55 victory.

Tayla Bennett scored a match-high 45 goals for Woorinen as Emily Siely added 11, and Amy Cadd a goal.

Swan Hill’s goalers were Zoe Morris, 29, and Ingrid Condely, 26.

Kerang dominated play with Koondrook Barham on Kerang’s court at Riverside Park.

The Blues led 35-18 at half-time and went on to record an 80-25 victory.

Courtney Robertson scored 55 goals as Emma Wright added 14 and Keiarah Brooks, 11.

Koondrook Barham’s attack was led by Emily Fasham, 14; Shanae O’Donoughue, six; and Ella Lodge, five.

Tooleybuc Manangatang could not stop Balranald’s charge to a 67-23 victory.

The Kangaroos led 43-10 by half-time on the Tooleybuc court.

Ella Mirtschin scored 46 goals for Balranald as Jess Parry added 21.

It was a closely-fought match between Nyah Nyah West United and Cohuna at Nyah.

The Cohuna Kangas led 25-24 at half-time and won the third, 12-7.

The Demons fired up to score 11 goals in the last, but Cohuna added 13 to claim a 50-42 result.

Carmen Dye and Kobie McIvor led the Kangas’ attack on 30 and 20 goals.

Mallee Eagles were too strong for Tyntynder at Lalbert.

The Eagles led 41-19 at half-time and won the next two terms, 12-8 and 14-8.

Kellie Walker scored 47 goals and Megan Thorneycroft added 20 in a 67-35 victory.

Leading goalers for Tyntynder were Kimberley Calvert, 23, and Kelsey Rowe, 10.

Lake Boga had the bye.

It’s the Bulldogs up against the Demons as Tyntynder faces Nyah Nyah West United at Swan Hill’s Alan Garden Reserve.

Koondrook Barham meets Swan Hill at Barham Recreation Reserve.

Woorinen faces Tooleybuc Manangatang in Tigers’ territory at Woorinen.

Cohuna Kangas have the bye.
