Eagles soar to impressive victories

THE Maiden Gully YCW Eagles soared to some impressive wins across the weekend’s fourth round in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League season.

In under-12 Mixed grading, Maiden Gully (1) marked a 39-8 victory on Golden Square’s ground in Wade Street.

The Eagles led 16-7 at half-time and then scored 3.5 to a point after the main break.

Eagles’ captain Jimmy Brown kicked two goals.

Best for Maiden Gully YCW (1) were Henry Rossignuolo, Riley Muir, Jagger Benaim, Austin Phillips, William Waters and Dayne Stone.

Maiden Gully YCW (2) defeated Eaglehawk by 40 points at California Gully.

The Eagles led 15-nil at half-time and then scored 3.3 in the third quarter.

Hudson Membery kicked three goals and Ryder Seiler added two in a 43-nil result.

Best for the Eagles were Ryder Seiler, Arnav Kawde, Hudson Membery, Owen Bell, Jake Wiltshire and Mason Barker.

In under-14 Mixed grading, Maiden Gully YCW (B) scored 16 goals in its clash with Strathfieldsaye at Marist College Oval.

Koby Wilson led the Eagles’ attack on four goals as Jack Hargreaves added three and Patterson Murphy, Tyson Smith and Tommy Watson chipped in with two.

At the final siren, Maiden Gully YCW (B) led 119-24.

Best for the Eagles were Nate Ralton, Noah Lowry, Patterson Murphy, Jack Hargreaves, Nash James and Tyson Smith.

Maiden Gully YCW A was up against Strathfieldsaye A at Marist College.

Storm charged to a 147-1 victory.

Best for the Eagles were Jack Farley, Darby Thompson, Harry Clapp, Tommy Evans, Kobe Turner and Jasper Morcombe.

In under-16 Boys grading, Maiden Gully YCW B played Huntly on the Hawks’ turf at Strauch Reserve.

The Eagles led 34-7 at quarter-time and then scored 8.3 to 0.5 across the next three terms.

At the final siren, Maiden Gully YCW B led 85-12.

Will Hargreaves kicked three goals for the Eagles as Nash Blake, David Bown and Archer Tremain added two.

Best for the Eagles were Nash Blake, Lucas Hoctor, Bevan Smart, David Bown, Archer Tremain and Kaelin Vroom.

Maiden Gully YCW (A) was on home turf at Marist College to play Strathfieldsaye A.

The Storm raced to a 45-1 lead by quarter-time.

The Eagles struck back to win the second term, 13-9.

Strathfieldsaye slammed on 8.3 to nil in the third quarter.

Maiden Gully YCW A never stopped trying and won the last term, 19-9, as Storm led 102-33 at the final siren.

Ben Hines led the Eagles’ attack on two goals and was best along with Cooper Attard, Liam Budge, Xavier Emmerson, Rhiley Grinham-Reid and Drew Warren.

Maiden Gully YCW (3) played out a great match against Strathfieldsaye (3) at Enterprise Oval in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.

At the final siren, Strathfieldsaye led 36-26.

Maiden Gully YCW’s attack was led by Will Isaacs on two goals.

Best for the Eagles were Riley Butt, Connor Wyatt, Will Isaacs, Nash Ryan, Dusty Balic and Thomas Ralphs.
