BLS marks best netball victory in years
THE A-grade netball team from Bears-Lagoon Serpentine marked its best victory in years in Saturday’s round 10 match in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL season.
The Danielle O’Toole-coached Bears rolled into Pyramid Hill’s Mitchell Park with a steely intent.
Although Pyramid Hill started the match 12 points clear of BLS it was the visitors who played outstanding netball to clinch a 40-35 victory.
The Bears moved a win clear of sixth-placed Marong as the Chelsea Emmerson-coached Pyramid Hill dropped a win behind the ladder-leading Mitiamo.
Another big match was at Walker’s Doughnuts Riverside Park in Newbridge where the Maroons hosted Bridgewater.
A Bridgewater team coached by Caz Wood and Olivia Collicoat dominated most of the contest to win 57-23.
It was disappointing result for the Selina Holland and Kristy Gandy-coached Newbridge which dropped to fourth in the premiership race.
Calivil United was at home against the Maiden Gully YCW Eagles.
After a run of single-digit defeats the Adam Boliston-coached Eagles won a high-scoring match, 58-41 against the Haylee Fawcett-coached Demons.
Mitiamo took on Marong at Mitiamo’s John Forbes Oval.
The Jen McIntyre-coached Superoos won 57-34 against the Robyn Cunnington-coached Panthers.
Inglewood had the bye.

In next Saturday’s round 11 action, Bridgewater is at home against Maiden Gully YCW.
Marong and Newbridge meet at Marong’s Malone Park.
Calivil United will be on its court to face a Pyramid Hill team on the rebound from defeat.
Bears-Lagoon Serpentine faces Inglewood at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.
Mitiamo has the bye.
