Hawks mark important win on their court

EAGLEHAWK marked an important victory on its court in Saturday’s 12th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL season.

The Kylie Piercy-coached Hawks took on Strathfieldsaye in what is likely to be an elimination final prelude at Canterbury Park in the Borough.

At the final siren the Two Blues led 45-33 against the Steph Freemantle-coached Storm.

Highs of play at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington included South Bendigo coach Alicia McGlashan and Kangaroo Flat’s Karlyn Bingham joining the league’s 300 Game Club.

McGlashan did so in the A-grade match as Bingham played in B-grade.

Both had been premiership team-mates with Kangaroo Flat.

In the A-grade contest the Roos were too strong for the Bloods.

A 14-7 first quarter put Kangaroo Flat in control of the match.

The Roos then won the second, 16-9, and the third, 11-9.

The Jayden Cowling-coached Kangaroo Flat finished the match with plenty of run as it won the last, 13-6.

At the final siren the Roos led 54-31.

Golden Square won every quarter on its way to a 52-goal win at home against Castlemaine at Fur Life Oval in Wade Street.

The Teigan Redwood-coached Golden Square raced to a 21-5 lead by quarter-time and did not let up.

The blue and gold won the next three quarters, 19-6, 20-9 and 18-6.

At the final siren Golden Square led 78-26 against the Chloe Hughes-coached Castlemaine.

It was a rest for Gisborne in A-grade, but the red, white and blue did play on Maryborough’s Princes Park in the lower grades.

Sandhurst also had an extended break after the inter-league match as it had the bye.
