BY NATHAN DOLE

Kangaroos dominate on Storm’s court

KANGAROO Flat won every quarter on its way to a 28-goal victory against Strathfieldsaye Storm in Saturday’s start to the split sixth round in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo FNL A-grade netball action.

The Kangaroos charged to a 16-9 lead by quarter-time of the match on Strathfieldsaye’s court at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane.

By half-time the Jayden Cowling-coached Roos led 32-19.

A Storm line-up coached by Steph Freemantle kept working hard, but the Roos were superb in all thirds of the court.

Kangaroo Flat won the third quarter, 13-6, and the last, 14-6.

At the final whistle the Roos led 59-31.

In the other A-grade match played on Saturday, Gisborne scored a 28-goal win at Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.

The Tarryn Rymer-coached Gisborne marked a 53-25 result against the Kylie Piercy-coached Two Blues.

South Bendigo had a rest in A-grade, but the Bloods played Maryborough in all other grades of netball at Kennington’s Harry Trott Oval.

Castlemaine had the bye.

Round six will be completed next Saturday when Golden Square faces Sandhurst at Fur Life Oval in Golden Square’s Wade Street.

Plenty at stake across all grades of netball as the clubs mark the Ron Best Memorial Shield day to honour the legendary goalkicker of the 1970s and 80s.
