Hawks from Huntly fly high at home and away
HUNTLY Hawks soared to some impressive wins across the weekend’s 11th round of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League season.
In the under-12C competition, Huntly played Heathcote on Saturday morning at Huntly’s Strauch Reserve.
The Hawks led 20-6 at half-time on their way to a 40-12 victory.
Ryder Marriott kicked three goals and earned best afield honours for Huntly as Ryan Sowerby chipped in with two majors.
Nash Campbell, James Clark, Caden Wheelhouse, Ryan Sowerby and Ted Cowan were best for the Hawks.
It was an all-Hawks showdown in under-12E as Huntly faced Eaglehawk at Canterbury Park.
The Two Blues led 64-7 at half-time, but Huntly lifted to win the second half, 26-25.
At the final siren, Eaglehawk led 89-33.
A list of Huntly’s best was not supplied.
Huntly had 28 shots on goal in the under-14 reserves one match on Strathfieldsaye Storm’s ground at Enterprise Oval in Tannery Lane.
The Hawks led 36-3 at half-timer and added 9.3 to 2.6 in the second half to complete a 93-21 victory.
Zethan Jensen kicked four goals and Ben Miller added three.
Best for the Hawks was Mitchell Lawrence who also kicked two goals.
Other to star for the brown and gold were Harley Matthews, Callum Whyte, Ben Miller, Deegan Swinnerton and Marshall Archer.
It was a closely-fought under-14 reserves two match between Huntly and Golden Square at Fur Life Oval in Golden Square’s Wade Street.
The Hawks were down 1-6 at quarter-time, but then added 2.2 to 0.5 in the second.
Huntly led 33-19 going into the final term and went on to claim a 46-33 victory.
Hawks’ captain Brogan Smith kicked three goals.
Oskar Chilver, Cruz Ameri, Lorcan Mulryan, William Norman, Jordan Giudice and Ryder Enright were Huntly’s best.
There are four rounds to go in the regular season.
