Mounts kick clear of Rochester
MOUNT Pleasant marked a six-goal win against Rochester in Friday’s under-12 girls match as the 13th round in the Bendigo Junior Football League season kicked off.
The Blues and Tigers played at Winslow Constructors Oval in Scott Street, White Hills.
Mount Pleasant led 15-6 at half-time and then scored five straight goals in the third quarter.
At the final siren the Blues led 55-19.
Drew Browne and Bridget Watson kicked two goals for Mount Pleasant as Jayda Bowyer, Paige Kristiansen, Baylee and Charlee Lampard added one each.
Best for the Blues were Bridget Watson, Taylah Leask, Charlee Lampard, Evie Kristiansen, Isabella Drake and Baylee Lampard.
A seven-five record has Mount Pleasant in fourth place on the ladder.
The Blues and Golden Square are locked on the same match ratio of 58 per cent and 28 premiership points.
There are three rounds to be played in the home-and-away series before finals begin.
This Friday night Mount Pleasant will play Marong at Kangaroo Flat’s Dower Park from 5.15pm.
Golden Square is home at Fur Life Oval in Wade Street to play St Francis Blue from 6.30pm.
Mount Pleasant is also represented in the under-12D competition this season.
On Saturday the Blues played South Bendigo at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington.
Goalkicking accuracy was a highlight for the Blues as they scored 3.1 (19).
At the final siren the young Bloods led 34-19.
Kaydin Walsh kicked two goals for the Blues as Cooper Roberts was also on target.
Best for Mount Pleasant were Jackson Roberts, Kaydin Walsh, Jesse Scott, Jack Beard and Brock Checkley.
The Blues will be home at Toolleen this Saturday for a 10am showdown with St Monica’s.
