Hawks flying into run to finals action

EAGLEHAWK teams flew high across many age groups in the weekend’s 16th and final round of the home-and-away series in the Bendigo Junior Football League season.

Hundreds of players took to the field as the BJFL marked Bendigo Bank Round.

A long-time valued sponsor of the BJFL and AFL Central Victoria, Bendigo Bank continues to help clubs and communities in many ways.

On field, Eaglehawk was seven teams.

The Hawks will have six teams play in this weekend’s start to the finals series.

Eaglehawk Eagles warmed up for the under-12B finals by winning Saturday’s match against Castlemaine at Wesley Hill by 77 points.

The Eagles scored 13.11 (89) on the Magpies’ ground.

George Hillard kicked three goals for Eaglehawk as Riley Button, Jack Hocking, Braxton Safstrom and Jayden Seppings chipped in with two each.

Best for the Eagles were George Hillard, Jack Hocking, Braxton Safstrom, Beau Ferguson, Jaia Richardson and Ku Law Saw.

Fans were treated to a thrilling finish to the under-12B match between Eaglehawk Hawks and Kangaroo Flat at California Gully.

The Hawks fought on for a 24-23 victory.

Goalkickers for Eaglehawk were Noah Hill, Alex Hinton and Tate McQueen.

Best for the Borough were Braxtyn Bowd, Tate McQueen, Rori McKerlie, Chaz Boyd, Jake Hocking and Chase Henderson.

Eaglehawk Two Blues took on North Bendigo Red in the under-12E match at Californai Gully.

The Bulldogs warmed up for the finals by scoring a 69-10 victory.

Xavier Rayner goaled for Eaglehawk as was among the best with Dominic Allan, Zannon Kelly, Seth Pilcher and Riley Hobbs.

The Hawks played Golden Square in the under-14 seniors match at Fur Life Oval in Golden Square’s Wade Street.

The home team won 136-28.

Goalkickers for Eaglehawk were Ali Gill, two; Xavier Stone and Sonny Tuckerman.

Eaglehawk’s best were Chace Powley, Corey Larson, Cashius Burke, Taiglan Turton, Riley Hill and Owen Bingham.

The Borough kicked 12 goals on the way to an 88-35 victory against Kangaroo Flat in the under-14 reserves, division three match at Kangaroo Flat’s Dower Park.

The Hawks’ attack was led by Cooper Russell on five goals as Taj Ferguson added four and Kaiden Holborn booted two.

Best for Eaglehawk were Bentleigh Cadzow, Ned Gibbs, Callum O’Brien, Cooper Russell and Jake Bumpstead.

Eaglehawk marked a 33-point win against Kangaroo Flat in the under-15 Girls seniors match at Dower Park.

The Two Blues won 37-4 as Zoe Hodgskiss, Ruby Kelly, Charlise McQueen, Maggie Pollock and Macey Scoble were on target in attack.

Eaglehawk’s best were Imogen Brown, Alexandra Jones, Charlise McQueen, Sezin Lees, Maggie Pollock and Zoe Hodgskiss.

In the under-15 Girls reserves competition, Eaglehawk played Golden Square at at Fur Life Oval.

The blue and gold marked a 98-12 victory.

Rima Shanley kicked both of Eaglehawk’s goals.

Best for the Two Blues were Ella Jefferis, Rima Shanley, Ruby Robinson, Taylah-Jane Bown, Sawyer Smith-McMahon and Shibah Htoo.
