GOLDEN Square’s rising stars are shining across many age groups in the IGA-backed Bendigo Junior Football League.
The blue and gold were in top form as week 10 of the season was played on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.
In the under-12 girls competition, Golden Square scored an 85-point win against White Hills under the Canterbury Park lights in Eaglehawk on Friday night.
The Bulldogs scored 14.14 (98) to 2.1 (13).
Willow Dellar kicked six goals as Katie Graham and Abigale Smith added two each.
Best for Golden Square were Shyleeka Wellington, Ruby Meharry, Chloe Twitt, Abigale Smith and Willow Dellar.
It was a closely-fought under-14 girls’ match between Golden Square and Kangaroo Flat on Sunday at Fur Life Oval in Golden Square’s Wade Street.
The Bulldogs led 14-12 at half-time before the Roos won the next term, 19-1.
Golden Square hit back to win the next two quarters, 8-7 and 6-1, but it was Flat which marked a 39-29 victory.
Goalkickers for the Bulldogs were Annabella Carr, Nikitah Costello, Olivia Reid and Layla Walsh.
Golden Square’s best were Emily Brown, Laylah Walsh, Olivia Reid, Alyssa Brew and Skylar Hickman.
The under-16 girls’ match between Golden Square and Castlemaine ended in a draw on Sunday at Fur Life Oval in Wade Street.
Castlemaine led 6-1 at quarter-time and 6-3 by the main break.
The Bulldogs fought back to goal through captain Lily Mansfield to lead 10-7 at three quarter-time.
As the Magpies added three behinds in the last, Golden Square was kept scoreless as a great contest was locked on 10-all at the final siren.
Best for Golden Square were Lily Mansfield, Gemma McPhee, Luci Kornmann, Summer Lowther, Lucy Johansen and Tiara Davis.
In the under-12A competition, Golden Square beat Maiden Gully by 22 points in Saturday morning’s match at Fur Life Oval in Wade Street, Golden Square.
The Bulldogs won 4.11 (35) to 2.1 (13).
Goalkickers for the blue and gold were Caleb Kennedy on two, Jimi Read and Logan Shatwell.
Best for the Bulldogs were Jimi Read, Caleb Kennedy, Ryan McLean, Rheef Norman, Jack Allen and Nate Bishop.
In under-12C, Golden Square marked a 26-point win against Kangaroo Flat on the Roos’ ground at Dower Park.
The Bulldogs won 5.10 (40) to 2.2 (14).
Goalkickers for Golden Square were Archer Griffin, Levi Liddell, Xavier O’Grady, Angus Pitcher and Digby Snell.
Levi Liddell, Bailey Bradley, Chase Buchan, Blake Goodes, Xavier O’Grady and Jaymin Bryan were best for Golden Square.
The Bulldogs won the under-12D match against Eaglehawk Two Blues at California Gully.
Square led 34-nil at half-time on the way to an 80-9 victory.
The Bulldogs’ attack was led by Jack Everett, Isaac Taylor and Alfie Uren on two each.
Best for Golden Square were Lucas Smith, Levi Gunn, Jackson Walker, Steven Wellington, Joshua Jones-O’Brien and Lucas Collins.
Golden Square took on Sandhurst in the under-14 seniors match on Sunday at Bendigo’s Ewing Park.
The Dragons scored six straight goals to lead 36-13 by quarter-time.
From there it was Sandhurst which added 20.11 as it held the Dogs to a tally of five behinds to complete a 167-18 victory.
Charlie Macumber and Mack Skinner were on target for Golden Square.
Best for the Bulldogs were Jake Rosa, Billy Buhagiar, Mack Skinner, Noah Pollard, Noah Pedrotti and Hudson Hayes.
The Bulldogs dominated the under-14 reserves, division three clash with Kangaroo Flat on Sunday.
Golden Square led 34-7 at half-time and kicked away for a 92-21 victory.
The Dogs’ attack was led by Spencer Snell, three; Tye Ahearn, Cade McKay, Tynan Thomas and Tyler Worbs on two.
Best for Golden Square were Tim Byrne, Tyler Worbs, Tynan Thomas, Cade McKay, Darcy Martin and Spencer Snell.
The Bulldogs reached the century mark in the under-16 seniors match against Maiden Gully YCW at Marist College Bendigo.
Golden Square scored 7.8 to 0.2 in the first half and went on to kick 14.16 (100) to 1.5 (11).
The Bulldogs’ attack was led by captain Riley Dillon and Xavier Grant on four goals, while Josh Kelly chipped in with two.
Best for Golden Square were Archie Edwards, Riley Dillon, Xavier Cain, Dalton Webb, Jackson Lowery and Josh Kelly.
It was a bye for Golden Square’s under-16 reserves, division one team, and under-18 girls.
