BJFL Week 8 Review | Demons fire to lead several ladders

THE Demons from White Hills sit on top of the ladder in three age divisions after eight weeks of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League season.

Highs for White Hills include the unbeaten run of the under-14 girls; the under-18 girls have a win-loss tally of 5-1; and under-16 reserves, division one team which also leads the premiership race.

Another group of Demons from Quarry Hill are third in the under-12B competition.

Week eight kicked off Friday night.

White Hills was at home to play Mt Pleasant in the under-12 girls match at Winslow Constructors Oval in Scott Street.

The Demons were beaten 22-45.

Best for White Hills were Amber Morley, Tilly Sawyer, Lola McGrath, Phoebe Pedersen, Amelia Savage and Hayley Molyneux.

The under-14 girls played on Sunday.

White Hills was in hot form at home as it won 86-1 against Golden Square.

Sophie O’Connell kicked five goals as Mia Clark added four.

Best for the Demons were Milly Kelleher, Sophie Healy, Georgie Coller, Kaylee Elliott, Elly Pickering and Sahrii Alford.

The under-18 girls also played on Sunday.

White Hills won the match on Golden Square’s ground at Fur Life Oval in Wade Street by 121 points.

Multiple goalkickers for the red and black in a tally of 18 were Sasha Pearce, five; Eve Cail and Oakley Turner, three; Amelie Haigh and Tarliah Murphy, two.

Best for White Hills were Hannah Ripper, Sasha Pearce, Tahlia Kendall, Oakley Turner, Matilda Meersbergen and Ruby Hilson.

In the under-12A competition, White Hills headed to Marist College Bendigo to play Maiden Gully YCW Eagles.

The Eagles soared to a 50-22 victory.

Goalkickers for White Hills were Charles Matthews, Lon Schelfhout and Blaik Young.

Jack Yates, Axl Birch, Roman Middleton, Memphis Slattery, Xander Baerken and Miller Polglase were best for the Demons.

White Hills scored a 40-point win against South Bendigo in the under-12D match at Kennington’s Harry Trott Oval.

Tamati McLarty kicked three goals as Mitchell Fuller booted two and Chase Kelson and Thomas Parks chipped in with one each in the 47-7 result.

The Demons’ best were Declan Mills, Dustin Sinclair, Mitchell Fuller, Cooper Boyd, Harrison Rothacker and Tamati McLarty.

White Hills marked a 78-15 victory against Strathfieldsaye in the under-14 reserves, division two match at Enterprise Oval in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.

Goalkickers for the Demons were Isaiah Cass and Jackson Mahood, three; Rhyder Michielsen, two; Charlie Dickins, Ben Jorgensen and Ewan Paterson.

Best for the red and black were Finnigan Prker, Rhyder Michielsen, Jackson Mahood, Ewan Paterson, Ryder Argus and Lachlan Mitchell.

A closely-fought under-16 reserves, division one match between White Hills and Kangaroo Flat went the way of the Demons.

White Hills led 43-25 at half-time and 55-37 at a quarter to play.

In the last the Roos added 2.1 to 0.2 as the Demons held on for a 57-50 victory.

Liam Cummings kicked two goals for White Hills as Paul Kabalan, Dustin Murley, Jarrell Ratcliffe, Lucas Rice and Talan Schultz added one each.

Best for the Demons were Hayden Mills, Jack Ketterer, Jarrell Ratcliffe, Hunter Middleton, Tynan Caine and Jacob Langtree.

White Hills Red was beaten in the under-16 reserves, division two match with Maiden Gully YCW by 51 points.

Kai Pearce and Josh Sherwood kicked a goal for Red as the Eagles won 68-17.

Best for the Demons were Kai Pearce, Mitchell Coffey, Will Runnalls, Ryan Riding, Kobie Nieto and Ashton Oehms.
