MURRABIT’S greater accuracy was a telling factor as it beat Moulamein in Saturday’s fourth round of Golden Rivers senior football action.
The Blues and Swans both had 23 scoring shots at the Moulamein ground.
As Murrabit scored 13.10 the Swans finished on 10.13.
The 15-point victory was Murrabit’s second of the season and put the Blues on the ladder’s third rung.
The Jack Shannahan-coached Murrabit led 26-8 at quarter-time before Moulamein struck back to win the second, 22-16.
Murrabit led by three goals going into a final term in which both teams kicked three goals.
James Stewart and Adam Thompson led the Blues’ attack on three goals.
For Moulamein it was William Haberecht who finished with a match-high four goals as William Doquile and Blake Launer added two each.
Best for Murrabit were Sam Copland, Austin McKerrow, Ben Derbas, Logan McKinnon, Bryden Morison and Ben Gilligham.
Blake Launer, Josh Wills, William Gibson, William Doquile, Matt Edwards and William Haberecht played well for the Brodie Tonkin and Hayden Dalitz coached Moulamein.
There were big wins for both of last season’s grand finalists, Ultima and Hay.
Stung by a 41 point loss to Hay the previous round, Ultima bounced back at home against Macorna.
The Kangaroos led 46-17 at half-time and won a hard-fought third term, 14-8.
Ultima scored 5.6 to a point in the last to complete a 96-26 victory.
Ryan Devereux led the Kangaroos’ attack on three goals as Jake Foster and Matt Taverna added two each.
There were no multiple goalkickers for the Tigers.
Best for Ultima were Cameron Johnson, Ryan Featherby, Thomas Isma, co-coach Mitchell Seton-Stewart, Zac Cattlin and Caillum Brady.
The Roos’ other co-coach is Kyle Symons.
Jackson Fry, Tori Ferguson, Corey Walters, Broden Wishart, Luke Gray and Llewellyn Kane were best for the Paul Longstaff and Shaun Haffenden-coached Macorna team.
Hay scored a 13-goal win at home against Wandella.
The Lions led 25-16 at quarter-time and then scored 11.10 across the next three quarters as the Bombers added seven behinds.
Declan Watson kicked five goals as Dylan Collis booted three and Jack Headon chipped in with two in a 101-23 victory for Hay.
Wandella coach Justin Robinson kicked both goals in the opening term.
Best for Hay were Jacob Watson, Daniel Stewart, Dylan Collis, Simon Bunyan, co-captain Jack Cattanach and Jack Headon.
The Lions are jointly coached by Jason Aylett and James Moran.
Best for Wandella were Archer Lancaster, Nathan Boysen, Tim Robinson, Darcy Ramage, Logan Keighran and Adam Ward.

In next Saturday’s play it’s the Tigers against the Lions as Macorna hosts Hay from 2.25pm.
Murrabit faces a big test at home against Ultima in the clash of the Blues and Kangaroos.
The Wandella Bombers will be back in their hangar to take on Moulamein.
