NORTH Bendigo and Bendigo Thunder will target a winning finale to their Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy season on Sunday.
The Bulldogs and Thunder meet in the 18th and final round of the home-and-away series at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street from 1pm.
The Jaydene Burzacott and Zak Carter-coached North Bendigo will chase its third win of the season.
A Thunder line-up coached by Mick McInnes has endured a tough run.
When these clubs met in Pink Round it was the Bulldogs who won 111-13 in the sixth round at Weeroona Oval.
Best for North Bendigo in last Sunday’s clash with Golden Square were Ella Dobell, Kayla-Brea McIntosh, Kira Gibbons and Maddison Mansfield.
The Bulldogs’ squad includes Aisha Mansfield, Roweena Ilsley and Tanika Thomson.
Thunder’s squad for Sunday includes Stacey Barbagallo, Maddi Brackenreg, Sharlene Cole, Alannah Leach, Sarah Lean, Estella Murphy and Rachel Salm.
Round 18 kicks off with Friday night’s match between Castlemaine and Marong at Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.
The Magpies and Panthers will vie for the four points from 7pm.
Back in round 12 it was Castlemaine which won 96-nil on Marong’s turf at Jackal Oval in Malone Park.
A powerful Castlemaine team coached by Jordan Cochrane is on a 12-1 record as it chases a fourth consecutive premiership.
Players to watch for the Magpies include Eloise Gretgrix, Maeve Tupper, Brianna Burt, Beppina Marshall, Jemma Finning and Taylah Sartori.
Marong has played well to achieve a win-loss record of 5-8 and be fifth on the ladder.
The Panthers’ squad bound for Castlemaine includes Katrina Alford, Dani Jeffery, Jaime Sawers, Crystal Clark, Bridget Chalkley, Jessica Jackson and Alicia Turner.
Marong is jointly coached by Jimmy Evenden and Daniel Bourke.
In Sunday’s other match it will be the Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons in their Scott Street den against Eaglehawk.
The Demons and Borough will clash from 1pm.
These teams have not faced one another since round one on April 4.
The Molly Metcalf-coached Eaglehawk won the match on its Canterbury Park turf by 61 points.
White Hills will be determined to end a season in which it has had four victories on a high.
Best for the Phil Murley-coached White Hills in the win against Bendigo Thunder last round were Hannah Ripper, Sasha Pearce, Samantha Bice and Oakley Turner.
The squad in red and black includes Catherine Fry, Amelie Haigh, Kara Kane and Leonie Schulz.
Eaglehawk is on the rebound from a two-goal loss to Sandhurst.
The Hawks will tackle Sandhurst in the first semi-final.
Eaglehawk’s squad includes Caitlin Evans, Shelby Faulkner, Lexie Moss, Taylah Nicholson, Molly Pianta, Shanae Sawyer and Abbey Willcox.
Golden Square and Sandhurst have the bye.

White Hills and Strathfieldsaye roll into the 18th and final round of the home-and-away series in fourth and fifth place.
The White Hills Demons are on 22 points and Strathfieldsaye Storm on 20.
The Demons will be on their turf in Scott Street for Sunday’s match against Eaglehawk from 11.15am.
Highlight of the round will be the clash of the third and first-placed Sandhurst and Woorinen from 11.15am at Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo’s View Street.
Kangaroo Flat takes on the neighbouring Golden Square from 11.15am at Kangaroo Flat’s Dower Park.
Strathfieldsaye has the bye.
