THE Birchip-Watchem Bulls outran Calder United Lions in Saturday’s round 11 clash in Goldacres North Central senior footy action.
Although the Lions were in their den in Nullawil it was the unbeaten Bulls who charged to an impressive seven-goal victory.
It was a promising start by Calder United as it led 29-28 at quarter-time.
The Bulls kicked away as they scored six goals in the second and the Lions added just three behinds.
Calder United fought on to score three goals in the third as Birchip-Watchem added two.
Led by the play of Tom Gibson, Nicholas Rippon and Daniel Bell it was the Bulls who brought up an 11th consecutive victory as they led 105-63 at the final siren.
Jacob Christie led Birchip-Watchem’s attack on three goals as Rhona Conboy, Ben Edwards and Tom Gibson booted two each.
Calder United’s leading goalkickers were Dale Pearce and Rylee Smith on three and two.
Best for the Ash Connick-coached Birchip-Watchem included Ben Lakin, Dale Hinkley and Jacob Noonan.
Oscar Madden, Koby Hommelhoff, Josh Walsh, Matthew Trzeciak, Dale Pearce and Rylee Smith were Calder United’s best.
The Lions are jointly coached by Darryl Wilson, non-playing, and Jordan Humphreys, playing.
Just 11 points separated Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers and Boort when the siren sounded to end their clash on Sea Lake Oval.
The Tigers made a superb start to lead 26-7 by quarter-time.
In the second it was Boort which fought back brilliantly to score four goals as SLN added one.
By half-time the Tigers led 36-35.
Sea Lake Nandaly won quarter-three, 20-5.
Although Boort outscored the yellow and black in the last, 20-15, it was Sea Lake Nandaly which marked a crucial 71-60 victory.
Co-coach Bryce Delmenico, Trent and Wade Donnan, and Adam Pattison all kicked two goals for Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers.
Boort’s Jhye Baddley-Kelly kicked a match-high four goals as James Keeble and Kayne Rutley chipped in with two each.
Best for the Tigers were Adam Pattison, Wade and Trent Donnan, Jai Wright, Bryce Delmenico and Joel Clohesy.
Sea Lake Nandaly also has Billy McInnes as co-coach as it chases a premiership hat-tricki.
Matt Austin, Keiren Wilson, Jhye Baddeley-Kelly, Alex Chamberlain, Jayden Dick and Carlos Egan were best for the Dale Cameron-coached Magpies.
St Arnaud marked its second win of the season as the Saints defeated Donald by 29 points at Donald Recreation Reserve.
It was clearly Donald’s best performance of the season.
St Arnaud raced to a 19-1 lead by quarter-time and then scored three goals in the second term as Donald added two majors.
Defences were on top in the next term as the Saints scored 1.5 and the Royal Blues added a point.
The Daniel Pearce-coached Donald worked hard to win the last quarter, 20-12, but it was the Saints who marked a 64-35 victory.
Max Hungerford led St Arnaud’s attack on three goals as Jacob Tillig kicked two.
Donald had five goalkickers.
Best for the Scott Driscoll-coached St Arnaud were Jackson Needs, Owen Lowe, Kurtis Torney, Darby Schilder, Harrison Saunders and Max Hungerford.
Robert Walker, Daniel Pearce, Dyson Bell-Warren, Josh Talty, Charlie Campbell and Thomas Reekie played well for Donald.
Wedderburn won the Woosang Challenge match at Charlton by 112 points.
The Tom Metherell-coached Wedderburn led 36-8 at quarter-time and then slammed on eight goals to a major in the second term.
By the long break the Redbacks led 89-14.
An evenly-fought third term went Wedderburn’s way, 21-14.
With Mitch Jensen capping off plenty of attacking moves on his way to a tally of 10 goals the Redbacks went on to claimed a 146-34 victory.
Other multiple goalkickers for the red and black were Oscar Holt and Aaron Smith on three, and Noah Furlong with two.
Charlton’s leading goalkicker was Liam O’Keefe on two.
Best for Wedderburn were Jye Mortlock, Noah Furlong, Mitch Jensen, Zach Pallpratt, Corey Lowry and Danny Benaim.
Liam O’Keefe, Ben Lanyon, Rhys Thompson, coach Mitch Collins, Ben Xiriha and Elliott Fitzpatrick were best for the Navies.

Third tackles second as Boort plays Calder United Lions at Boort Park from 2.30pm.
Charlton and Donald will play for the Bunters Cup at Charlton Park.
Wedderburn takes on Birchip-Watchem at Wedderburn’s Donaldson Park.
St Arnaud faces Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers on the Saints’ ground at Lord Nelson Park.
