CMFNL King’s Birthday Football Review | Swan Hill beats Tyntynder in King’s Birthday match

SWAN Hill took the points against an inaccurate Tyntynder in the Central Murray FNL’s senior footy clash on the King’s Birthday holiday weekend.

The Swans and Bulldogs met in a stand-alone match under Swan Hill’s lights on Saturday night.

The match also completed the sixth round of the Radio 3SH-backed season.

Swan Hill led 16-2 at quarter-time and then opened a 17-point lead by the main break.

The Bulldogs had plenty of play in the second, but added just five behinds to be down 7-24 at half-time.

Term three went Tyntynder’s way, 25-12, to be within a goal at a quarter to play.

Swan Hill scored 2.4 to a goal in the last to complete a 52-36 victory.

Matt Wade capped a best afield performance with two goals for Swan Hill as Jett Hinton, Lachlan Joyce, Sonny Beasy, Toby Thoolen and Lachlan Vrolijks were also on target.

Goalkickers for Tyntynder were Matt Corney, two; Zac Denham and Liam Whelan.

Best for Swan Hill were Matt Wade, Xavier Moloney, Toby Thoolen, Brandon Houlihan, Adam Manning and Matthew Pearse.

Matt Corney, Matt Gilbee, Elliot Broad, Liam Whelan, Josh Stone and Patrick Crowe worked hard for the Bulldogs.

Saturday night’s result meant Swan Hill kept the heat on Lake Boga as both clubs have a 4-3 record, but the Magpies are 23 per cent clear in the fight for a top-five finish.

In the sixth round played on May 20, Kerang scored a 46-38 win against Balranald at Kerang’s Riverside Park.

Cohuna won 101-79 on Tooleybuc Manangatang’s turf at Tooleybuc.

Nyah Nyah West United marked a 130-68 victory against Mallee Eagles at Lalbert.

Woorinen won 69-24 at Lake Boga.

Koondrook Barham had the bye this round.
