Mallee Eagles soar past 80-goal mark
THE ladder-leading Mallee Eagles poured in 86 goals as they defeated Kerang in Saturday’s 15th round of A-grade netball in the Central Murray Football Netball League season.
Mallee led 42-16 at half-time on its way to an 86-35 victory.
Emelia Shannahan led the attack on 45 goals.
Closest match of the day was at Cohuna where Swan Hill clinched a six-goal victory.
At the end of a hotly-contested first half it was Swan Hill in front 29-27.
The Swans won the third quarter, 14-9, before the Kangas struck back to score 13 goals to 12 in the last term.
Casey Frame scored 33 goals for Swan Hill as Ingrid Condely added 12.
Cohuna’s goalscorers were Carmen Dye 28, and Kobie McIvor, 21.
Ingrid Condely was best for Swan Hill, and Keely Wilson led the way for the Kangas.
Lake Boga won every quarter on the way to a 57-43 victory at home against Woorinen.
The quarter-by-quarter breakdown was 17-11, 13-8, 13-11, and 14-13.
Sarah Hepburn scored 42 goals for Lake Boga as Katie Hepburn added 15.
Jemma Meehan was Lake Boga’s best as Emily Siely played well for Woorinen.
Balranald was too strong on its court for Koondrook Barham.
The Balranald line-up led 28-10 at half-time and charged away to record a 63-20 victory.
Ella Mirtschin was in hot form on 36 goals as Jess Parry poured in 27 for Balranald.
Tlarnee Lake led Balranald’s attack on 13 goals.
Stevie Bibby was best for Balranald as Tlarnee Lake was best on court for Koondrook Barham.
Nyah Nyah West United, Tooleybuc Manangatang, and Tyntynder had the bye.

In next Saturday’s round 16 action, Woorinen is at home against Tyntynder.
Koondrook Barham faces Tooleybuc Manangatang at Barham.
Kerang and Lake Boga clash at Kerang’s Riverside Park.
Swan Hill and Balranald will play on Swan Hill’s court.
Nyah Nyah West United takes on Cohuna Kangas at Nyah.
Mallee Eagles have the bye.
