Woorinen defeats ladder-leading Demons

WOORINEN won every quarter as it took the points against the ladder-leading Nyah Nyah West United in Saturday’s 12th round of the Radio 3SH-backed senior footy in the Central Murray.

The Marcus Demaria-coached Tigers clinched a crucial victory to hold its place in the top five.

Woorinen led 14-10 at quarter-time and then scored 5.3 as the Demons added 4.1 in the second.

The Tigers held a 15-point buffer at a quarter to play and then added 4.2 to 2.2 in the last.

Will Collicoat capped a great match with six goals as Woorinen won 88-59.

Other multiple goalkickers for the yellow and black were Jye Barry, Arnold Kirby and Josh Stone on two.

Liam White led the Demons attack on four goals.

Best for Woorinen were Doug Beames, Matt Gardner, Will Collicoat, Lachlan Gardner, Mitch Uhlhorn and Jye Barry.

Liam White, Joel Campbell, Campbell Everitt, Dominic Gallo, Jordan Iudica and Mitch Grinham were best for the Jason Murphy and Nic O’Neill-coached Demons.

Swan Hill outpointed Tooleybuc Manangatang at Manangatang.

The Michael Herlihy-coached Swans marked consecutive victories for the first time this season.

The Saints led 13-9 at quarter-time, but it was the Swans who unleashed an eight-goal blitz in the second as they led 61-26 by the long break.

Swan Hill won the next term, 25-14, to hold a 46-point advantage going into the final term.

Although the Brad Morris-coached Saints won the last, 26-17, it was the Swans who celebrated a hard-earned 103-66 victory.

Thomas Isma and Ned McKeown kicked three goals each for the Swans as Elijah Miliado and Harry Scott added two.

The Saints’ attack was led by Josh Williams with a game-high six goals.

Best for Swan Hill were Sonny Beasy, Brandon Houlihan, Lachlan Vrolijks, Ned McKeown, Jarvis Keogh and Harry Scott.

Ryan Domaille, Jesse Wilson, Blake and Gareth Grant, Josh Williams and Zach Prentice were best for the Saints.

Kerang won a hard-fought clash with Tyntynder at Alan Garden Reserve in Swan Hill.

The Troy Coates-coached Kerang was under pressure as it led 35-34 at half-time.

The Blues lifted to win the third term, 14-2.

In a low-scoring contest, Kerang won the last term, 10-7, as it clinched a 59-43 victory.

Jordan McNeil kicked two goals for the Blues.

Tyntynder’s attack was led by Jason Eagle on four goals as Jayden Magro added two.

Best for Kerang were Josh Nitschke, Nick Lang, Lachlan Ross, Sam Heavyside, Brad Pay and Tyson Clingan.

Mick Dedini, Roy George, Marcus Wattie, Brock Storer and Jordi Bibby played well for the Jack O’Rourke-coached Bulldogs.

Cohuna Kangas beat Koondrook Barham by 63 points at Barham.

The Jack Geary-coached Kangas raced to a 32-3 lead by quarter-time.

The River Raiders fought back to score 2.1 in the second term as Cohuna added 2.4.

Four goals in the third and another four in the last sealed a 99-36 result for Cohuna.

Xavier Mitchell led the Kangas’ attack on four goals as Daniel Coates, Joel Helman, Jude Palmer and Jackson Williams added two each.

Billy Driscoll kicked two goals for Koondrook Barham.

Best for Cohuna were Chris Anderson, Jack Geary, Joel Helman, Jackson Williams, Xavier Mitchell and Daniel Coates.

Jack Shannon, Billy Driscoll, James Martin, Chester Gardner, Scott Wood and Reagan Hamilton worked hard for the Will Callow-coached River Raiders.

Eight goals as it kept the opposition scoreless in the first quarter set up a big win for Balranald on its turf at Greenham Park against Lake Boga.

The Jydon Neagle-coached Kangaroos slammed on 8.5 in the first term.

Lake Boga hit back to win the second term, 20-18.

The Roos led 93-28 at a quarter to play and scored 3.3 to a tally of four behinds in the last to complete a 128-32 victory.

Jarryd Stead led Balranald’s attack on four goals as Seth Connell and Drew Lloyd booted three and Lachlan Lellman added two.

Lake Boga’s attack was led by David Gourdis on two.

Best for Balranald were Drew Lloyd, Rory Fitzgerald, Harrison Soraggi, Seth Connell, Mason Fitzgerald and Lachlan Lellman.

Zac Warne, Charlie Bryan, Aaron Lonergan, Josh Wills, Nelson Ibbs and David Gourdis were best for the Dean Helmers-coached Magpies.

Mallee Eagles had the bye.
