Bulldogs win clash on Lake Boga’s turf

TYNTYNDER kept the heat on in the race to decide the top five in the Radio 3SH-backed Central Murray senior footy competition on Saturday.

The Bulldogs stayed in striking distance of Cohuna Kangas and Balranald as it won the match at Lake Boga by 31 points.

The Jack O’Rourke-coached Tyntynder charged to a 28-10 lead by quarter-time.

The Bulldogs won term two, 17-14.

Three goals as it kept the Magpies to a tally of two behinds meant Tyntynder led by 40 points going into the final quarter.

The Dean Helmers-coached Lake Boga lifted to win the last, 31-22, but it was Tyntynder which marked an 88-57 victory.

Jayden Magro kicked four goals for the Bulldogs as Justin Ellis added three and Marcus Wattie chipped in with two.

Leading goalkicker for Lake Boga was Lachlan Burns on two.

Tyntynder’s best were Marcus Wattie, Matt Gilbee, Mick Dedini, Coady Gorringe, Brock Storer and Justin Ellis.

Nelson Ibbs, Taylor Johnstone, Aaron Lonergan, David Gourdis, Dylan McCosh and Xavier Sherlock were Lake Boga’s best.

Kerang was under the pump across the first half of its clash with Koondrook Barham at Kerang’s Riverside Park.

The Will Callow-coached River Raiders played superb footy against an inaccurate Kerang to lead 4.5 (29) to 2.11 (23) at half-time.

The Blues lifted to score 7.7 and held the KB line-up to a point in the third quarter.

Koondrook Barham fought on to win the last, 21-7, but it was Kerang which led 79-51 at the final siren.

Blues’ coach Troy Coates kicked a team-high three goals as Mason Dibsdaleand Sean Hunter added two.

Details on Koondrook Barham’s goalkickers were not supplied.

Best for Kerang were Lachlan Ross, Nick Lang, Josh Nitschke, Jesse Clark, Martin Kelly and Sean Hunter.

Billy Driscoll, Jack Thrum, Jack Shannon, James Martin, Kye Attwell and Tom Amor led the charge by the River Raiders.

A seven-goal haul by Brandyn Grenfell was a highlight of Nyah Nyah West United’s win at home against Tooleybuc Manangatang.

The Demons led 29-8 at quarter-time and then scored 2.5 to just three behinds in the second.

Strong defensive efforts by NNWU kept the Saints to a tally of two goals across the opening three quarters.

As the Demons added six goals in the last, Tooleybuc Manangatang kicked four.

Grenfell led the way for the Jason Murphy and Nick O’Neill-coached Demons on seven goals as Jordan Iduica and Ethan Saville added two each.

The Saints’ attack was led by Connor Nutting on four goals.

Best for the Demons were Jaydyn Stirling, Jordan Iudica, Max Thompson, Nick O’Neill, Dominic Gallo and Zack Threadgold.

Blake Grant, Elliot Chalmers, Mitchell and Gareth Grant, Rydar Morris and Connor Nutting were best for the Brad Morris-coached Saints.

Mallee Eagles soared to a 15-goal win on Swan Hill’s turf at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve.

The Brent Macleod-coached Eagles led 38-14 by quarter-time.

A hard-fought second term went Mallee’s way, 22-18.

Four goals to nil in the third gave the Eagles a 55-point lead going into the final term.

The Eagles added another seven majors in the last to cap a 134-43 victory.

Darcy Hourigan and Andrew Mead-Harding led the attack on six and five goals.

Other multiple goalkickers for Mallee’s team were Paul Davis and Shaun Harrison with two.

Ned McKeown kicked three goals for the Swans as Jose Miliado chipped in with two majors.

Best for the Eagles were Jayden Post, Troy Anderson, Andrew Mead-Harding, Harrison Allen, Logan Nalder and Beau Bennett.

Jarvis Keogh, Lachlan Vrolijks, Brandon Houlihan, coach Michael Herlihy, Ben Parkes and Cooper Angus were best for the Swans.

Balranald, Cohuna Kangas, and Woorinen all had the bye.

Highlight of next Saturday’s 17th round will be Mallee Eagles against Kerang in the clash of third and first at Lalbert.

Woorinen will be at home to play Balranald in  a crucial clash for the Tigers and Roos.

Swan Hill faces the in-form Cohuna Kangas at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve.

Tooleybuc Manangatang tackles Lake Boga at Manangatang.

Koondrook Barham meets Tyntynder at Barham.

Nyah Nyah West United has the bye.
