CMFNL Round 5 Netball Review | Magpies soar to win on Balranald’s court

LAKE Boga took the points in a closely-fought A-grade netball at Balranald in Saturday’s fifth round of the Central Murray FNL season.

Down 12-15 at quarter-time of the match at Balranald’s Greenham Park, Lake Boga hit back to lead 26-25 at half-time.

The Magpies won the third term, 13-7, to hold a seven-goal buffer going into the last.

Balranald finished strongly, 12-8, but it was Lake Boga which marked a 47-44 victory.

Lake Boga’s attack was led by Sarah Hepburn, 39 goals; and Katie Hepburn, 8.

Goalscorers for the Kangaroos were Jess Parry, 18; Ella Mirtschin, 14; Bec Harvey, 9; and Madison Jess, 3.

Nyah Nyah West United was too strong for Tooleybuc Manangatang.

The Demons led 22-10 at half-time on their way to a 43-28 win against the Saints.

Shaniah Nunn scored 16 goals for Tooleybuc Manangatang.

It was a closely-fought contest between Tyntynder and Kerang at Tytynder.

The Bulldogs led 24-20 at half-time, but Kerang fired up to win the third, 15-5.

Courtney Robertson and Keiarah Brooks capped off Kerang’s moves with 29 and 16 goals in a 45-41 victory.

Tyntynder’s attack was led by Kimberley Calvert, 25; and Kelsey Rowe, 16.

Woorinen dominated its home game against Koondrook Barham.

The Tigers led 24-5 at quarter-time and did not let up as they won the next three quarters, 17-10, 19-5 and 23-6 to record an 83-26 victory.

Tayla Bennett was in hot form as she scored 72 goals for Woorinen as Emily Siely chipped in with 10 and Carlee Hazlett added another.

Goalscorers for Koondrook Barham were Emily Fasham, 15, and Shanae O’Donoghue, 11.

Cohuna could not halt Swan Hill’s charge to a 94-41 win on the Kangas’ court.

Swan Hill led 24-8 at quarter-time and 48-20 by the long break.

Zoe Morris led the Swans’ attack on 59 goals as Ingrid Condely added 21 and Casey Frame chipped in with 14.

The Kangas’ attack was led by Kobie McIvor, 21; and Carmen Dye, 20.

Mallee Eagles had the bye.
