CMFNL Round 6 Netball Review | Balranald upset Kerang

BALRANALD marked an upset victory against Kerang in Saturday’s sixth round of A-grade netball in the Central Murray FNL season.

The Kangaroos teamed superbly at Kerang’s Riverside Park to beat the Blues by a goal.

Balranald led 10-8 at quarter-time, but Kerang lifted to win the second term, 14-8.

Scores were 31-all going into the final term which the Roos won, 10-9, to complete a 41-40 victory.

Kerang’s attack was led by Courtney Robertson, 32; and Emma Wright, 8.

Mallee Eagles were too strong for Nyah Nyah West United at Lalbert.

The Eagles led 33-15 at half-time and then dominated the third term, 17-5.

At the final whistle, Mallee led 66-28.

Goalscorers for the Eagles were Kellie Walker, 42; and Megan Thorneycroft, 24.

Stephanie Henson scored 12 goals for the Demons.

Lake Boga won a closely-fought contest with Woorinen at Lake Boga Sports Club.

The Magpies led 16-8 at quarter-time, but the Tigers fought back to win the second term, 13-9.

A tally of 13 goals as it kept Woorinen to just seven in the third quarter put Lake Boga up by 10 going into the last.

Sarah Hepburn scored a match-high 37 goals and Katie Hepburn added 11 in a 48-40 victory.

The Tigers’ attack was led by Tayla Bennett, 36; and Emily Siely, 4.

It was a high-scoring match between Tooleybuc Manangatang and Cohuna.

The Saints led 35-26 at half-time on their way to a 65-52 win at home.

Goalscorers for Cohuna were Kobie McIvor, 28; and Carmen Dye, 24.

Koondrook Barham had the bye.

Round six will be completed on the King’s Birthday holiday weekend when Swan Hill plays Tyntynder under lights on June 10 at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve from 6pm.

Tyntynder takes on Tooleybuc Manangatang at Swan Hill’s Alan Garden Reserve.
