CMFNL Round One Netball Review | Lake Boga fights for win against Mallee Eagles

THE fighting quality of Lake Boga was to the fore against Mallee Eagles in Saturday’s completion to the first round of A-grade netball in the Central Murray Football Netball League.

Lalbert hosted the showdown between the Magpies and Eagles.

Lake Boga led 14-8 at quarter-time, but Mallee hit back to win the second, 11-8.

It was goal-for-goal in the third as the Magpies led 33-29 at a quarter to play.

Both teams added eight goals apiece in the last as Lake Boga won 41-37.

The Magpies’ attack was led by Sarah Hepburn, 25; and Katie Hepburn, 16.

Kellie Walker scored a game-high 28 goals for the Eagles as Megan Thorneycroft added nine.

Kerang dominated its clash with Tooleybuc-Manangatang at Tooleybuc.

Courtney Robertson was in brilliant touch as she scored 50 goals and Keiarah Brooks added 20 in the 70-22 victory.

Shaniah Nunn scored 13 goals for Tooleybuc Manangatang.

Balranald scored a 24-goal victory against Tyntynder at Alan Garden Reserve in Swan Hill.

The Kangaroos won every quarter in a 45-21 win.

Ella Mirtschin scored a game-high 25 goals as Jess Parry added 20.

Tyntynder’s goalscorers were Kimberley Calvert, 12; and Kelsey Rowe, 9.

Nyah Nyah West United marked a 49-21 win at Nyah against Koondrook Barham.

The NNWU line-up led 26-10 at half-time and did not ease up after the main break.

A brilliant high jumper, Denise Snyder scored 43 goals for Nyah Nyah West United.

Swan Hill had the bye.

The season began on Good Friday at Cohuna where Woorinen scored a 54-42 victory on the Kangaroos’ court.

In next Saturday’s second round, Kerang is at home to play Mallee Eagles at Riverside Park.

Koondrook Barham clashes with Cohuna at Barham.

Lake Boga and Nyah Nyah West United meet in the battle of the Magpies and Demons at Lake Boga Sports Club.

Swan Hill plays Tooleybuc Manangatang at Swan Hill.

Woorinen and Tyntynder do battle in Tigers’ territory at Woorinen.

Balranald has the bye.
