Colbinabbin romps to big win at White Hills

COLBINABBIN passed the 80-goal mark once again in Saturday’s 16th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL season.

Hot favourite for the premiership, Colbinabbin’s unbeaten streak is now at 14 matches.

The Jen McIntyre-coached Grasshoppers dominated the clash on the Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons court in Scott Street.

Colbinabbin’s slick play in all thirds of the court and strong defensive efforts were to the fore in every quarter.

The Elly Lawton-coached White Hills could do little to stop the green and gold’s charge to an 86-37 victory.

Defeat meant White Hills dropped to the third rung on the ladder, but the red and black will have the double chance at finals time.

Mount Pleasant moved to second in the title race as it scored a 24-goal win on the Harlowe Huntly Hawks court in Strauch Reserve.

The Anthea McCleary-coached Mount Pleasant led 13-9 at quarter-time and then dominated the second.

As the Blues poured in 17 goals in term two it held the Hawks to a tally of 10 goals.

Mounts won the next two quarters, 17-8 and 17-13.

At the final siren the Blues held a 64-40 lead against a Huntly team which is jointly coached by Ashlea Sherlock and Kym Bell.

North Bendigo won every quarter in a 54-28 victory against Heathcote at Bendigo Club Oval in North Bendigo’s Atkins Street.

The Kiralee Kinder-coached Bulldogs led 12-6 at quarter-time and 25-14 by the main break.

Heathcote’s best term was the third as it added nine goals, but the Bulldogs replied with 15 on the way to a 40-23 lead at the last change.

The Anna Dundon-coached Saints kept working hard, but the red, white and blue surged clear to be up 54-28 at the final siren.

Elmore had to work hard for a 48-34 victory at home against Lockington Bamawm United.

A Bloods’ line-up coached by Cayde Hayes, playing, and Hayley Langdon, non-playing, faced an opponent which had won its previous two matches.

Elmore moved to the fourth rung and will fine-tune its game rolling into an elimination final against Huntly.

A Lockington Bamawm United team coached by Kerryn Giorgianni and Shelby Stone will be back home to play North Bendigo next Saturday.

Leitchville Gunbower had the bye.
