Ladder-leading Magpies take on Sandhurst
THE unbeaten Castlemaine is home at Camp Reserve to play Sandhurst in this Sunday’s 10th round of the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy action.
All four of Sunday’s matches start at 1pm.
The Jordan Cochrane-coached Magpies take on the Dragons as the second half of the home-and-away series kicks off.
When these clubs met in round one it was Castlemaine which began its quest for a premiership hat-trick by soaring to a 134-17 victory at Bendigo’s Ewing Park.
The Andrew Saladino-coached Sandhurst has a win-loss tally of four-four in its debut season and starts this round in fifth place.
The Magpies and Dragons marked big wins last weekend.
Castlemaine won under the Camp Reserve lights in Friday night’s match against White Hills by 173 points.
On the Sunday the Sandhurst line-up won 150-1 on North Bendigo’s turf at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street.
A powerful Castlemaine team includes captain Tiahna Cochrane, Maeve Tupper, Brianna Burt, Beppina Marshall and Taylah Sartori.
Jemma Finning is in for just her second match of the season for the black and white.
Key players for Sandhurst include captain Ruby Campbell, Amanda Carrod, Liv Douglass, Chelsea Reeves, Laura Douglas and Chloe Swatton.
Bendigo Thunder is home at Weeroona Oval in Napier Street to take on Eaglehawk.
Massive challenge for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder following a 24-goal defeat at Golden Square last Friday night.
In round one it was Eaglehawk which beat Thunder by 15 goals in the Borough’s Canterbury Park.
Thunder’s team for this Sunday includes captain Shae-Lee Murphy-Burke, Britney Mueck, Hannah Perry, Jaime Sawers, Lucy El Hage and Emily Button.
The in-form Eaglehawk won last Sunday’s clash at Woorinen by seven points.
Players to watch for the Hawks include co-coach Molly Metcalf, Caitlin Evans, Lexie Moss, Lily Hiatt and Shelby Faulkner.
Joint coach of the Two Blues is Geoff West.
Winslow White Hills Demons are home at the Scott Street ground to take on Marong.
Both clubs marked their first matches in the CVFL senior women’s competition in the opening round at Marong’s Malone Park.
It was the Demons who marked a historic victory.
The Phil Murley-coached White Hills has a win-loss tally of two-five.
A Marong team coached by David Blume and Jimmy Evenden is chasing its first win.
The Panthers team to play in the den includes Kyrah Paxton, Stacie Carbone, Bianca Bourke, Blayze Chapman, Cody Clark, Gemma Woodall and Sasha Law.
Stung by its loss to the Hawks, Woorinen is back home to take on North Bendigo.
The Katelyn Hazlett-coached Woorinen will start favourite to take the points.
The Tigers’ line-up includes Brydi Lewis, Jenna Bannam, captain Tenay Fellows, Ngaire Harlan, Tara Andrews and Casy Unger.
Big test for the Ross Egleton-coached Bulldogs line-up.

Woorinen hosts the unbeaten Winslow White Hills Demons in Tigers’ territory.
