Golden Square takes on Borough
THE clash between Golden Square and Eaglehawk highlights this Sunday’s round 11 action in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy season.
Golden Square has home-ground advantage at Fur Life Oval in Wade Street for a crucial clash with the Borough.
All four of Sunday’s matches start at 1pm.
At Golden Square it will be second against third.
When these teams met in round two it was the Nathan Manuel-coached Golden Square which won 75-17 under Eaglehawk’s lights at Canterbury Park.
The Bulldogs had the bye last weekend after a 147-nil win against Bendigo Thunder the previous round.
Golden Square forward Paynton Jolliffe needs six goals to hit the 50 mark.
A talented team in blue and gold includes captain Liz Watkins in the centre, on-ballers Claire Picone and Tallulah Duffy, Carly Geary in the ruck, Taylah Moore at centre half-forward, Tanya Walsh and Kate Douglass in defence.
Eaglehawk won its latest clash on Bendigo Thunder’s turf at Weeroona Oval by four points.
Best for the Borough in that contest were Lexie Moss, Shelby Faulkner, Krystal Robinson and Emily Field.
The Molly Metcalf and Geoff West-coached Hawks are on a five-game winning streak.
Players to watch for the Two Blues include Shelby Faulkner and Rhian Hobbs at half-forward, Taylah Petrusma in the centre, Cass Coleman and Eileen Mitchell in defence, on-ballers Caitlin Evans and Emily Field.
It’s a rematch of the ’23 grand finalists, Woorinen and Castlemaine at Woorinen Recreation Reserve.
The Katelyn Hazlett-coached Tigers will be determined to play well after the Magpies scored a 110-point win against them at Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve in round two.
The Tigers warmed up for this clash with a 164-point triumph at home against North Bendigo last Sunday.

Fifth on the ladder on a four-five record, Sandhurst must win to keep the heat on the fourth-placed Woorinen Tigers.
