Night games at homes of the Bulldogs

NIGHT matches at the homes of the Bulldogs in North Bendigo and Golden Square on Friday kick off the 15th round in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy competition.

North Bendigo will be on its turf at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street to take on Castlemaine from 7pm.

Massive test for the team in red, white and blue against the unbeaten Magpies.

The Ross Eagleton-coached North Bendigo had the bye last round following a 20-plus goal loss at Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.

Pressure on Castlemaine’s midfield and on-ball players to limit the quantity and affect quality of supply to a formidable attack will be a huge goal for the Bulldogs.

Key players for North Bendigo include Aisha Mansfield, Thallon McEachran, Hannah McKenzie and Paige Panzcel.

Other players to watch will be Cassandra Coughlan, Roweena Ilsley, Tanika Thomson and Nicole Woodman.

The hot streak for the Jordan Cochrane-coached Magpies keeps on rolling.

Castlemaine won its latest match on home turf at Camp Reserve against Eaglehawk by 33 points.

In attack the Magpies have Tiahna Cochrane, Eloise Gretgrix and Rachael Stubbings to cap off the work of Chelsea Cole, Jemma Finning, Emma Pedretti, Taylah Sartori and Maeve Tupper.

Golden Square will be back on its turf at Fur Life Oval in Wade Street to play the Winslow White Hills Demons from 7.15pm.

A 10-2 record has the Nathan Manuel-coached Golden Square in second place.

Paynton Jolliffe has kicked 65 goals in 10 matches to be a runaway leader in the league’s goalkicking race.

Other players to watch in the blue and gold include Kate Douglass, Carly Geary, Molly Forde, Brooke Hutchinson, Sarah Mannes, Claire Picone and captain Liz Watkins.

Will be another testing match for the Phil Murley-coached White Hills.

Bendigo Thunder faces Sandhurst at Weeroona Oval in Bendigo’s Napier Street from 1.30pm.

A win for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder will put it level with Sandhurst on 28 points.

Thunder’s squad includes Marguerita Murphy at centre half-back, Jaime Sawers at full-forward, Ava Fenton in the ruck, Hannah Perry at half-forward, and Faith Reid on a wing.
