Peebles kicks 11 goals in Demons big win
AN 11-GOAL haul by Nadia Peebles capped another victory for the Winslow White Hills Demons in Sunday’s 16th round of the Champions IGA-backed CVFL under-18 girls football competition.
Peebles and her Demons’ team-mates were on their turf at Winslow Constructors Oval in Scott Street to play Eaglehawk.
The ladder-leading Demons charged to a 26-nil lead by quarter-time and did not let.
After six goals in the second term, White Hills added four in the third and five in the last to complete a 120-nil victory.
As Nadia Peebles capped off the great work with 11 goals, White Hills also had Amelie Haigh and Ella Henery chip in with two majors.
Best for the Demons were Catherine Fry, Nadia Peebles, Matilda Meersbergen, Amelie Haigh, Reagan Wirken and Ella Henery.
Neve Nisbet, Mary Fisher, Hayley Fitt, Lilly Stevenson, Isabella James and Jamieson Brown played well for the Hawks.
Woorinen jumped to the third rung on the ladder after a nine-goal win at home against Strathfieldsaye.
The Tigers led 10-1 at quarter-time and then scored four straight goals in the second to take control of the contest.
The yellow and black scored 3.5 in the second half to complete a 57-3 win against Storm.
Grace Ayars kicked five goals to be among the best for the yellow and black.
Woorinen’s best were Lanie Somerville, Mayla Conway, Eva Coffey, Grace Ayars, Chloe Lovell and Meg Young.
Best for Strathfieldsaye were Scarlett Ward, Mikayla Davis, Layla Morrison, Grace Doherty, Sophie Ryan and Gemma Fox.
The round kicked off Friday night when Sandhurst played Golden Square under the Queen Elizabeth Oval lights.
Sandhurst charged to a 19-8 lead by quarter-time.
In the second it was Golden Square which cut the Dragons’ margin by three points.
The second half was dominated by the team in blue and gold.
Golden Square scored 4.2 and kept the maroon and blue to a tally of two goals in the third term.
It was a final quarter blitz by the Bulldogs as they added 5.2 and kept the Dragons scoreless.
Tiara Davis kicked three goals as eight team-mates added a goal each to complete a 76-38 victory.
Sandhurst’s attack was led by Charlotte Scanlon with two goals.
Best for Golden Square were Makayla Roberts, Lucy Johansen, Keely Milne, Tiara Davis, Niamh Hobbs and Ruby Demeo.
Molly McLoughlan, Leni Brown, Charlotte Scanlon, Mia Maxted, Scout Carmody and Eilish Grieve were Sandhurst’s best.
Castlemaine had the bye.

Round 17 kicks off with Friday’s match between Eaglehawk and Sandhurst under the Canterbury Park lights in Eaglehawk from 5.30pm.
On Sunday it will be the Winslow White Hills Demons at home in Scott Street to play Strathfieldsaye from 10.30am.
Golden Square takes on Castlemaine at Golden Square’s Fur Life Oval from 11.15am.
