Demons mark big win against Woorinen

WHITE Hills scored an 18-goal victory against Woorinen in Sunday’s fifth round of the Champions IGA-backed CVFL under-18 girls football competition.

The Demons and Tigers met in the Anzac round match on the White Hills ground in Scott Street.

White Hills raced to a 38-point lead by quarter-time as it scored 5.9 to a behind.

By half-time the Demons led 59-8.

Demons’ captain Eve Cail went on to kick seven goals as Amelie Haigh and Tarliah Murphy added three in a 14.20 (104) to 6.2 (38) result.

Woorinen’s attack was led by Sunny Barry, three goals, and Erin Johnston, two.

Best for White Hills were Eve Cail, Jorja Morrison, Amelie Haigh, Kiara Field, Lily Rochester and Rowena Stevens.

Hollie Everett, Sunny Barry, Erin Johnston, Grace Ayars and Fallon Smits were best for the yellow and black.

The ladder-leading Golden Square scored a 41-9 victory on Castlemaine’s turf at Camp Reserve.

The Bulldogs led 34-nil at half-time.

Castlemaine fought back to win the second half, 9-7.

Tiara Davis kicked three goals for Golden Square.

Amelia Britt was on target for the Magpies.

Best for the blue and gold were Mackenzie Bickley, Lily Mansfield, Gemma McPhee, Katrina O’Neill, Ruby Demeo and Summer Lowther.

Olivia Muscat, Chloe Drew, Amelia Britt, Kirah Muscat, Tegan Barry and Miharo WiHare played well for the Magpies.

Strathfieldsaye Storm surged to a 15-goal win against Eaglehawk at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane.

Alysha Boyd kicked five goals as Annabelle Edwards and Layla Morrison added three in a 101-10 victory.

Lilly Stevenson goaled for Eaglehawk.

Storm’s best were Alysha Boyd, Annabelle Edwards, Layla Morrison, Dempsey McDonnell, Caitlin Daley and Scarlett Ward.

Hayley Fitt, Jamieson Brown, Jayda Mathews-Shanley, Imogen Wilson, Lilly Stevenson and Taylor Collier played well for the Borough.

Sandhurst had the bye.

CVFL under-18 girls footy ladder:

Golden Square 783 per cent, 12 points; White Hills 377, 12; Strathfieldsaye 270, 12; Sandhurst 154, 8; Woorinen 46, 4; Castlemaine 31, 0; Eaglehawk 2, 0.

Eaglehawk or Castlemaine will break their winless run in next Sunday’s round five match at Canterbury Park from 11.15am.

It’s second against third as White Hills faces Strathfieldsaye from 10.30am at the Scott Street ground.

Woorinen takes on Sandhurst from 11.15am at Woorinen Recreation Reserve.

Golden Square has the bye.
