AFL Central Victoria in conjunction with AFL Victoria are pleased to announce the recruitment of Jake DeAraugo in the new position of Club Development Lead (CDL).
Starting with AFL Central Victoria on Monday May 27th , as the Club Development Lead, Jake will work collaboratively with clubs, Leagues, and association volunteers from Central Victoria to build capacity of volunteers and assist them in performing key duties whilst building self-sufficiency in clubs.
With a strong history in Bendigo, Jake joins AFL Central Victoria after seven years full time at Cricket Victoria with the most recent role of Cricket Manager – Norther Rivers & Mallee Murray. This role saw Jake work closely with local Associations & clubs re: all facets of club development (governance, strategic planning, safeguarding children, grants, volunteer recognition, AGM preparation etc.), coach & teacher development, participation growth, stakeholder relationships etc.
Jake is well known and regarded throughout the region and those experiences will serve him well in the newly established CDL role to benefit local footy clubs across the Central Victoria region.
AFL Central Victoria Region Manager, Cam Tomlins said “Community Clubs are built around volunteers, the experience players have is directly influenced by the environment coaches and club committees create.”
“We are thrilled to announce the appointment of such a highly regarded and accomplished resource such as Jake, who will predominantly work directly with community clubs to support and assist with a range of matters including but not limited to compliance & governance, sustainability & strategic planning, facilities, funding opportunities, and most importantly – to engage and listen,” said Tomlins.
“We want clubs to be safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environments and are thrilled to soon deploy a direct resource to support our hard-working club volunteers throughout the Central Victoria region,” said Tomlins.
