WHITE Hills won a hard-fought clash at Elmore in Saturday’s second round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote DFNL season.
The Winslow Constructors White Hills Demons and Elmore Bloods played out a terrific contest.
A tally of 54 goals across four quarters was a sign of the pressure both teams applied.
At the final whistle it was the Elly Lawton-coached White Hills which led 28-26.
One of three unbeaten teams, White Hills is third on the ladder going into next Saturday’s home game against North Bendigo at Winslow Constructors Oval in Scott Street.
Although disappointed with the result the Annie Hockey-coached Elmore will now focus on the round three clash with the Harlowe Huntly Hawks at Huntly’s Strauch Reserve.
Mount Pleasant has made a superb start to the season.
The Anthea McCleary-coached Mount Pleasant won every quarter in a 62-32 victory at Lockington.
The Blues charged to a 16-5 lead by quarter-time and were up 26-14 at the long break.
Across the next two terms Mounts won 17-7 and 19-11.
A positive for the Kerryn Giorgianni and Shelby Stone-coached LBU was its highest scoring term being the last.
The LBU Cats are back home against next Saturday to face a red-hot Colbinabbin.
Mount Pleasant will be on home turf at Toolleen next Saturday to play Leitchville Gunbower.
The Grant Matthews-coached Leitchville Gunbower will be determined to hit back from a 21-goal loss at Leitchville against Huntly.
After a closely-fought first quarter which the Hawks won 15-12 it was 30-23 in favour of the brown and gold by half-time.
Huntly outscored the Bombers in the second half by 14 goals to record a 64-43 victory.
The Ashlea Sherlock and Kym Bell-coached Hawks are second on the ladder going into a big test against Elmore next round.
Heathcote could not halt Colbinabbin’s slick passing and powerful attack at Pigeon Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve.
The Chloe Meulenmeesters-coached Heathcote faced a 14-goal deficit at quarter-time.
In its first hit-out of the season the Jen McIntyre-coached Colbinabbin poured in 25 goals in the second as the Saints added just two.
The green and gold led 47-10 by the main break and went on to record a 90-22 victory.
Colbinabbin makes its way to Lockington next Saturday as Heathcote has the bye.
It’s been an extended break for the Kiralee Kinder-coached North Bendigo which finished within five goals of Elmore in round one and then had a rest at Easter and then last Saturday’s bye.
