Dozen clubs already in grand finals
A DOZEN clubs have had at least one team qualify for the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League’s grand finals.
There was plenty of great action across week two of the La Trobe University Bendigo-backed finals series as teams contested second semi or first semi-finals.
In the under-12 Girls competition, Golden Square scored a 34-point win against White Hills in Friday night’s first semi-final at Fur Life Oval in Golden Square’s Wade Street.
A 19-point win by St Therese’s against St Francis Blue in the second semi-final at Golden Square put the Sharks into the grand final.
St Francis won the under-12A second semi-final against St Therese’s by 32 points.
It was close finish in the under-12B second semi-final as the Eaglehawk Eagles clung on for a 32-25 victory against White Hills.
Five points was the difference at the end of the under-12C second semi-final between Maiden Gully YCW and Golden Square.
It was the Eagles who marked a 13-8 victory against the Bulldogs.
South Bendigo (3) won through to the under-12D grand final after a 33-6 win against St Monica’s in the second semi-final.
North Bendigo Red racked up 19 scoring shots on its way to a 44-11 win against Maiden Gully YCW in the under-12E second semi-final.
A great weekend for North Bendigo included a 77-34 victory against Golden Square in the second semi-final of the under-14 reserves, division three competition.
Sandhurst marked wins in three of the league’s second semi-finals.
The Dragons won the under-14 seniors match against Golden Square by 10 points.
It was a 50-point victory for Sandhurst in the under-15 Girls seniors second semi-final against Strathfieldsaye.
A great contest in the under-16 seniors second semi-final between Sandhurst and Strathfieldsaye ended in a 46-38 win for the Dragons.
Also through to play for the premiership cup is White Hils after it won the under-14 reserves, division one clash with Kangaroo Flat by 27 points.
The Magpies from Maryborough and Castlemaine will also be represented on Bendigo JFL grand finals weekend.
Maryborough marked a 58-36 win against Huntly in the under-14 reserves, division two second semi-final.
The second semi-final under-16 reserves, division one went Castlemaine and Huntly went the way of the Magpies, 68-44.
Kangaroo Flat dominated the under-15 Girls, reserves second semi-final to score a 43-7 win against Sandhurst.
Marong scored a 24-point win against Rochester in the second semi-final of the under-16 reserves, division two competition.
The Rochester Tigers will now meet Kangaroo Flat in the preliminary final after the Roos won the first semi against Sandhurst by 83 points.
